31. Forestry Carbon Sequestration and Trading: a Case study of Mau Forest Complex in Kenya
Magister-uppsats, Högskolan i Gävle/Avdelningen för Industriell utveckling, IT och SamhällsbyggnadSammanfattning : The global temperature is at an all-time high, the polar ice is melting, the sea levels are rising and the associated disasters are a time bomb. These variations in temperature are thought to trace roots to anthropogenic sources. LÄS MER
32. Reaching the 2014 UN New York Declaration on Forests Goals, using satellites to monitor global value chains
Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Kulturgeografiska institutionenSammanfattning : This master thesis in geography investigates how remote sens- ing can be used in Transnational Corporations (TNC) global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. The study aims to delineate an accurate method in remote sensing to be used to monitor deforestation in global value chains. LÄS MER
33. Diamonds in the Rough : Remote predictive mapping using multispectral satellite imagery for kimberlite exploration on northeast Banks Island, NT
Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografiSammanfattning : This study demonstrates the use and limitations of Remote Predictive Mapping (RPM) as an aid to kimberlite exploration on northeast Banks Island, Northwest Territories, Canada. It focuses on the effectiveness of ASTER and Landsat 8 optical multi-spectral satellite imagery for discerning the spectral properties of different bedrock and surficial materials that outcrop or blanket the regional terrain. 34. Detecting changes in cropland extent: A case study within the Lake Chad Basin using classified remote sensing data
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresursläraSammanfattning : Access to fresh water is essential for the lives of organisms and for human activities. However, with a growing population that strives after a higher standard of living, the pressure on already limited resources will rise. LÄS MER
35. The suitability of using Landsat TM-5 Images for estimating chromophoric dissolved organic matter in subarctic Lakes
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskapSammanfattning : Recent trends of permafrost thawing in the subarctic are expected to cause increased release of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) to inland waters, which might have cascading effects on downstream aquatic ecosystems and release of CO2 to the atmosphere. This study therefore aimed at evaluating the applicability of an empirical band ratio algorithm for estimating chromophoric dissolved organic matter (CDOM; a proxy for DOC) from the easily accessible satellite images Landsat TM-5, to counter the inaccessibility of the region in general.
