    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Johan Westin; [2014]
    Nyckelord :Trans-Amazonian highway; remote sensing; deforestation; Amazon rainforest; BR230; Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Deforestation is one of the biggest environmental challenges today. Especially severe has the deforestation of the Amazon rainforest been where at least 20% has been cleared the last 40 years. LÄS MER

  2. 37. Land cover change and its influence on soil erosion in the Mara region, Tanzania : using satellite remote sensing and the Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation (RUSLE) to map land degradation between 1986 and 2013

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Klara Århem; Fredrik Fredén; [2014]
    Nyckelord :Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation; land cover change; geography; physical geography; soil erosion; land degradation; RUSLE ; remote sensing; Landsat; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Sub-Saharan Africa suffers from land degradation, depletion of natural resources and rural poverty. In the Lake Victoria Basin, where large parts of the population are small scale farmers, people are facing such issues coupled with altered climatic conditions. LÄS MER

  3. 38. An attempt to investigate the impact of 1994 Tutsi Genocide in Rwanda on landscape using remote sensing and GIS analysis

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Maxime Rwaka; [2014]
    Nyckelord :Landsat TM and ETM ; NDVI; agricultural production and GDP; refugees; rainfall; geomatics; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The 1994 Tutsi Genocide in Rwanda affected the society, as well as its surrounding environment. By the use of Remote Sensing and GIS, the study looked at the evidence of change to the landscape by looking at vegetation based on NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) To explain the reason behind the noticed change, the following parameters were used: • rainfall variations, • refugees and population number, • GDP and agricultural production. 4. 39. Holding the borders of Mount Carmel : A study of management and land issues in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Kulturgeografiska institutionen

    Författare :Annie Jansson; [2014]
    Nyckelord :UNESCO Biosphere Reserve; settlement development; stakeholder management; environmental planning policy; political ecology; Mount Carmel; Israel;

    Sammanfattning : The establishment of a UNESCO Biosphere indicates a shift from traditional conservation of individual areas towards a more regional approach and an inclusive planning and management regime. This study sets out to investigate the effects of the Biosphere Reserve designation in Mount Carmel, Israel, with special regard to settlement development and stakeholder management. LÄS MER
