  1. 1. Cryogenic properties of additive manufactured austenitic stainless steels for space applications

    Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Materialvetenskap

    Författare :Patricio Piantanida; [2023]
    Nyckelord :austenitic stainless steel; additive manufacturing; cryogenic;

    Sammanfattning : The mechanical properties of three austenitic stainless steel alloys, namely 21-6-9, 316L and a modifed 316, fabricated via laser powder bed fusion, have been studied. From the results previously obtained through tensile tests at room and cryogenic temperatures, their strength and ductility were compared against similar conventionally processed materials. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Linkage of Macro- and Micro-scale Modelling Tools for Additive Manufacturing

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Materialvetenskap

    Författare :Julia Sjöström; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Maraging steel; selective laser melting; temperature evolution; macro-scale modelling; segregation; ICME.;

    Sammanfattning : Additive manufacturing methods for steel are competing against commercial production in an increasing pace. The geometry freedom together with the high strength and toughness due to extreme cooling rates make this method viable to use for high-performance components. The desirable material properties originate from the ultrafine grain structures. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Laser Hardening for Application on Crankshaft Surfaces Using Non-Uniform Beam Intensity Distributions

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematik

    Författare :Victor Rönnerfjäll; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Laser transformation hardening; Crankshaft surface; Non-uniform beam intensity distributions; Hypoeutectoid steel; Microalloyed steel; 44MnSiVS6;

    Sammanfattning : A controlled continuous laser output using a circular geometry with a gaussian intensity distribution was used to harden the surface of a particular metal specimen (44MnSiVS6). Said beam operated within a relatively small power interval, just barely past the melting point.
