  1. 1. The West African Coup Trap : A qualitative case study of military coups d'état in Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso, and Guinea

    Kandidat-uppsats, Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för statsvetenskap (ST)

    Författare :Joy Hansen; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Coup d état; Mali; Niger; Burkina Faso; Guinea; External impact; Climate change; Political instability; France; Russia;

    Sammanfattning : Africa is the continent having the most coups d'état. From 2020 to 2022, there were six coups and three coup attempts on the continent. This study aims to investigate the causes of these coups d'état in Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, and Guinea, four former French colonies in West Africa. LÄS MER

  2. 2. A Solidarity Model of Foreign Aid? : A case study of the Olof Palme International Center’s projects in South Africa

    Kandidat-uppsats, Högskolan Väst/Institutionen för ekonomi och it

    Författare :Malin Stål; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Foreign aid; international solidarity; charity; non-governmental organisation; development aid; South Africa; Sweden; Olof Palme International Center; Utländskt bistånd; internationell solidaritet; välgörenhet; icke-statliga organisationer; bistånd; Sydafrika; Sverige; Olof Palmes internationella center;

    Sammanfattning : This bachelor thesis is a qualitative case study of whether the Olof Palme International Center’s (OPC) model of foreign aid, as a Swedish non-governmental organisation (NGO), is understood by leading figures of the three types of participants involved in the model; the OPC, Swedish member organisations, and, in this case, South African partner organisations, as taking either a solidarity- or charity-approach to foreign aid, in both theory and practise. The theories of Mutual Aid and International Solidarity are used to construct two opposing “solidarity” and “charity” models of foreign aid, against which the OPC model is compared. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Optimization of a Floor Grinding Machine for Uniform Grinding Pattern

    Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Produktrealisering

    Författare :Adithya Srikantha Dath; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Numerical Optimization; Floor Grinders; Grinding Pattern; Engineering Optimization; Model Based Systems; Data Analysis;

    Sammanfattning : Husqvarna Construction is one of the leading construction machinery manufacturers in the world. To stay in the forefront, investing in novel methods to model, test & and optimize machinery is crucial. The most important part of development and testing is to bridge the gap between desired and actual results. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Faradaic Reactions in Capacitive Deionization : A Comparison of Desalination Performance in Flow-through Cell Architectures

    Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI)

    Författare :John Bradley; Miranda Carlström; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Capacitive deionization; Faradaic reactions; Flow-through CDI; Upstream anode; Downstream anode; Desalination Performance; pH fluctuations;

    Sammanfattning : Capacitive Deionization (CDI) is an energy-efficient desalination technology that utilizes an electric field to extract ions from water. Flow-through CDI systems show potential for superior desalination performance compared to traditional flow-by CDI; however, they face the challenge of increased occurrence of Faradaic reactions, leading to undesired by-products and reduced energy efficiency. 5. 5. Physiology-Guided Machine Learning for Improved Reliability of Non-Invasive Assessment of Pulmonary Hypertension

    Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Avdelningen för medicinsk teknik

    Författare :Frida Hermansson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Pulmonary Hypertension; pulmonary hypertension; improving; physiological-guided; machine learning; neural networks; NN; artificial neural networks; non-invasive; PH; tricuspid regurgitation; peak tricuspid regurgitation velocity; tricuspid regurgitation velocity; right ventricular systolic pressure; VGG16; Unet; TR-CNN; CNN; pulmonell hypertension; förbättra; fysiologisk-guidning; neurala nätverk; trikuspidal regurgitation; maximal trikuspidal regurgitation; icke-invasivt;

    Sammanfattning : Diagnosing pulmonary hypertension (PH) with right heart catheterization (RHC) is associated with a risk for complications and high expenses, leading to late diagnoses [1]. Transthoracic echocardiography can be used to assess non-invasive indicators for PH such as right ventricular systolic pressure (RVSP), which can be estimated by combining the peak tricuspid regurgitation velocity (TRV) with the estimated right arterial pressure (RAP).
