  1. 1. Assessment of Climate Change Impact on Rainfed Barley Production in the Mediterranean Basin : The Almeria province case study

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Francesco Saretto; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Barley; Rainfed; Climate Change; AquaCrop; AquaCrop-OSPy; Mediterranean; Climate Change Adaptation; Crop Modeling; Agriculture; Irrigation;

    Sammanfattning : The Mediterranean basin is widely recognized as a climate change hotspot, with climate models projecting increasingly warmer and drier conditions that will impact local ecosystems, communities, and economies. Agriculture will be among the most affected sectors, with harsher conditions for crops’ growth, greater water needs, and lower yields. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Regenerationen - et studie af unge, regenerative jordbrugere i Danmark og deres relation til fremmedgørelse fra naturen i en tid med økologiske kriser

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för kulturgeografi och ekonomisk geografi; Lunds universitet/Humanekologi

    Författare :Clara Sophie Storm; [2024]
    Nyckelord :alienation from nature; regenerative agriculture; story completion method; regenerative practices; ecological crises; Social Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : With this study I seek to contribute to existing research on young, regenerative farmers in Denmark by illuminating their relationship with alienation from nature. The title is “The Re-generation – a study of young, regenerative farmers in Denmark and their relationship to alienation from nature in a time of ecological crises”. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Bidding Farewell to the Ancient City of Ashur: A Qualitative Case Study of the Social and Cultural Impacts of the Makhoul Dam in Iraq

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Graduate School

    Författare :Alice Abbas; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Makhoul Dam; Climate Change Mitigation in Iraq; Solastalgia; Place attachment; Community Participation Theory; Semi-structured Interviews; Social Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : This qualitative case study explores through semi-structured Interviews the social and cultural impacts of the Makhoul Dam, planned as part of Iraq’s climate change mitigation work. It was based on the research question: How do local individuals experience the Makhoul Dam’s impact on their home environments including the surrounding archaeological sites? And supported by the two operational questions: How are individuals in the dam-affected areas wellbeing and identity interlinked to their native areas including the surrounding archaeological sites? and How does the Makhoul Dam including its decision making process affect individuals in the dam-affected areas’ wellbeing and identity? By using Albrecht's theory of solastalgia, the theory of place attachment, where a broader definition of the theory was applied and community participation theory, eight sub-themes were identified under three main themes; “Our Area”, Who’s decision? and Wellbeing and identity. 4. 4. Planning for heat resilience - A comparative study between Greater Gothenburg´s and Skåne´s work on heat

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Rebecca Johansson; [2023-08-17]
    Nyckelord :climate adaptation; heat mitigation; heat stress; urban planning;

    Sammanfattning : Due to climate change, it is expected that heat waves will be intensified and occur more frequently in Sweden; hence, heat-related risks are anticipated to increase, i.e., morbidity and mortality. Through heat mitigation strategies, risks associated with heat can be prevented. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Hydraulic Modelling of Eurasian Beaver Structural Modifications: Implications for Evaluating their Contributions to Natural Flood Management in Scotland

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Avdelningen för Riskhantering och Samhällssäkerhet

    Författare :Maja Christina Pitcairn; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Beaver reintroduction; Scotland; Flood risk; Natural flood management; Hydraulic modelling.; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : The concurrent climate and biodiversity crises in Scotland necessitate the exploration of ecosystem-based adaptation to simultaneously address increased flood risk and the loss of native species. This research investigated the contributions of Eurasian beaver reintroductions to natural flood management in Scotland. LÄS MER
