1. Tribological characterization of a ball bearing subjected to an electric field : Electric drivetrain tribology
Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematikSammanfattning : Electric machines are widely used in for instance the automotive industry in electric vehicles and in wind turbines. The electrical machines have mechanical bearings as an integral part used to transmit power and load. In addition, the main function includes reducing friction between interacting surfaces. LÄS MER
2. SUSTAINABLE LUBRICATION FOR FUTURE TRANSMISSIONS : Micropitting performance of Glycerol-based lubricants
Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematikSammanfattning : Achieving sustainable lubrication by using environmentally friendly formulated lubricants has became an essential component of the transition process from fossil-powered vehicles to electrified transportation. Mixtures, or aqueous solutions of molecules such as polyhydroxy alcohols, and glycols usually known as green lubricants make it possible to achieve low friction coefficients under different lubrication conditions, which constitutes a potential alternative to improve the tribological performance of moving parts in automotive systems, at the same time that the environmental requirements are satisfied. 3. Mechanical Face Seals: Test Rig Development and Analysis of the Frictional Behaviour
Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för industriell teknik och management (ITM)Sammanfattning : Mechanical face seals, MFS, are important machine components in the heavyduty-vehicle industry which generate a high frictional power loss. In order to lower these losses an investigation has to be performed on the frictional behavior of the MFS. LÄS MER
4. New materials in sliding bearings
Master-uppsats, KTH/Maskinkonstruktion (Inst.)Sammanfattning : Increasing demands for lower emissions from heavy trucks and buses creates new demands on the components in the engine. One such component is the journal bearing which is used at many positions in the engine. Implementing a start-stop system in a truck engine leads to that the crankshaft journal bearing gets worn out too quickly. LÄS MER
5. Composition, properties and surface structure of tribochemically deposited coatings
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Tillämpad materialvetenskapSammanfattning : Five tribochemically deposited coatings on honed cast iron cylinder liner segments has been studied with respect to surface properties, material composition, coating thickness, hardness and friction. Methods like Light Optical Microscopy (LOM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS), 3D topography using white light interferometry (VSI) and Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis (ESCA) were used to study the surface, coating thickness and material composition.
