16. The effect of snow-cover area change, precipitation and temperature on streamflow in Tärnaån drainage basin, northern Sweden
Kandidat-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografiSammanfattning : Snow cover is a fundamental component of the world’s cryosphere and plays an important role in the hydrological cycle. It is significant as a human water resource but can also be an influencing factor in flood and drought generation. LÄS MER
17. Linking conflict events and cropland development in Afghanistan, 2001 to 2011, using MODIS land cover data and Uppsala Conflict Data Programme
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskapSammanfattning : Linking conflict events and cropland development in Afghanistan, 2001 to 2011, using MODIS land cover data and Uppsala Conflict Data Programme This thesis describes changes in land cover between 2001 and 2011 in Afghanistan, and analyzes the influence of conflict events on cropland development. How did fighting intensity affect cropland areas in Afghanistan, did cropland areas decrease or increase, and were there regional differences in cropland development? Yearly MODIS (Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) land cover data have been used in this thesis work to assess cropland changes. LÄS MER
18. Fjällbjörkmätarlarvers påverkan på fjällbjörkskog : en fjärranalysstudie om markvegetationsförhållanden i subalpin miljö
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskapSammanfattning : Since the mid-1950s, studies have frequently been conducted on couplings between geometrid moth outbreaks and mountain birch, though not nearly as much focus has been on connections between geometrid moth outbreaks and ground cover. Previous studies have shown that major outbreaks of Epirrita autumnata occur in 9 – 10-year cycles (Karlsson et al. LÄS MER
19. An open source web GIS tool for analysis and visualization of elephant GPS telemetry data, alongside environmental and anthropogenic variables
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskapSammanfattning : The movement and distribution of ecologically important herbivores such as elephants are of great significance to conservation biologist seeking to understand the fundamental triggers that influence their mobility and the extent to which these parameters affect how they utilize their immediate and surrounding resources. The recent advancement in animal tracking technology coupled with the availability of moderate to high-resolution satellite data, permits scientists to develop elephant cognitive maps of their adjacent environment, thus offering novel opportunities for research in the fields of wildlife movement ecology and the wider conservation biology. 20. Identification and Masking Method of Clouds in Satellite Images
Master-uppsats, Blekinge Tekniska Högskola/Institutionen för tillämpad signalbehandlingSammanfattning : Identification of the cloud in an image is essential in order to remove the noise in the image and improve the quality of the image. Further the masking of cloud in a satellite image is important in order to obtain a clear image taken from a remote sensing satellite. LÄS MER
