  1. 1. Computational Fluid Dynamics and Modeling of a Free Surface Flow

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI)

    Författare :Mathieu Marmier; [2023]
    Nyckelord :CFD; Free Surface Flow; VOF; STAR-CCM ; Multiphase Simulation; Nuclear Engineering; Fluid Mechanics;

    Sammanfattning : This project deals with the CFD modelling of a free surface flow. The aim is to develop and validate a fast and accurate numerical model for stratified two-phase flows. Volume of Fluid (VOF) multiphase model is employed. The purpose is to use the developed numerical model for the design of an element within a compact nuclear reactor. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Flow modeling and bank erosion downstream due to spillway discharge : Independent thesis Advanced level (professional degree) 30 ECTS credits

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Avdelningen för beräkningsvetenskap

    Författare :Alexander Lindblad; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Ansys Fluent; Multiphase Flow; Spillway; CFD; Volume of Fluid; Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes;

    Sammanfattning : Dam spillways and downstream areas are used to guide large flows of water during for example heavy rainfall. The large flows give way to turbulent pattern sand velocities that may damage the river banks or the dam structure. Investigation of these water patterns at certain flows are therefore done to examine at risk areas. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Method development for the use of Smoothed-particle hydrodynamics simulations for vehicle soiling analysis

    Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Mekanisk värmeteori och strömningslära

    Författare :Josep Plana Riu; [2022]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : An increasing amount of sensors is being placed in cars in order to monitor their vicinities, which performance is highly dependant on the driving conditions, in which weather has a big role, and thus water contamination is a topic that will increase its importance in the future of the car industry. One of these sources of contamination is self-soiling: how cars get dirty because of their own tires. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Simulation strategies for improved contamination modeling of liquid dynamics on automotive surfaces

    Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Mekanisk värmeteori och strömningslära

    Författare :Thisal Mandula Sugathapala; Twan Bakker; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Volume of Fluid; Contamination modeling; Blended Kistler model; Dynamic contact angle models; Exterior water management; Light-induced fluorescence imaging; Multiphase flows; Surface flows; Computational fluid dynamics; Sensor soiling;

    Sammanfattning : A significant level of research is currently being carried out in the development of driver support systems as they are expected to play a key role in minimizing road vehicle accidents and creating a safe driving environment under harsh weather conditions. However, the performance of some components used by existing driver support systems like LIDAR and visual cameras are affected by extreme weather conditions such as heavy rain fall and snow. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Fluid flow features in swirl injectors for ethanol fueled rocket : - Analysis using computational fluid dynamics

    Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för teknikvetenskap (SCI)

    Författare :Emil Vejlens; Dylan De Jourday; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Fluid Mechanics; Rocket Science; Fuel injectors; Computational Fluid Dynamics; Swirling Flows; Fuel Mixing;

    Sammanfattning : A swirl injector for a rocket engine being developed by \emph{AESIR} (Association of EngineeringStudents in Rocketry) was simulated with different geometric parameters. The swirl injector is usedto atomize the ethanol used as fuel and to create a spray that mixes well with the oxidizer withinthe combustion chamber. LÄS MER
