  1. 1. The potential nitrous oxide emissions in a permanent grassland chronosequence

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Mycology and Plant Pathology

    Författare :Sandra Lillsjö Kronblad; [2023]
    Nyckelord :nitrous oxide emission; permanent grasslands; denitrification; nitrous; reen house gas; agriculture;

    Sammanfattning : As a part of a larger project (Belowground biodiversity of grasslands – conservation needs and potential to promote sustainable agriculture), this study aims to investigate potential nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions and microbial gene abundances needed for the production (nirS and nirK) and reduction (nosZI and nosZII) of nitrous oxide in soil of permanent grasslands of various age. Thegrasslands have at different times been converted to permanent grasslands and are of interest because of the possibility to shed more light about the passage of time’s affects on the soil microbialcommunities and their activity. 2. 2. Underlying mechanisms behind nitrous oxide emissions in oilseed radish, Raphanus sativus var. oleiformis, and Phacelia tanacetifolia

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Plant Breeding (from 130101)

    Författare :Annika Swensson Källén; [2023]
    Nyckelord :nitrous oxide; glucosinolates; greenhouse gases; oilseed radish; Phacelia tanacetifolia; cover crops; labile C;

    Sammanfattning : Greenhouse gases are a driving force of climate change and the annual greenhouse gas emissions were higher between 2010-2019 than any other time in human history (Skea et. al. 2022). LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modelling the full-scale N2O emissions from wastewater treatment plants for identifying mitigation strategies

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kemiteknik (CI)

    Författare :Naga Deepika Peddamudium; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Modelling; simulation; ASM2dISS; N2O production pathways; N2O emission factor; mitigation strategies; water and environmental engineering; Technology and Engineering;

    Sammanfattning : Nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions, which primarily originate from the biological nitrogen removal process, dominate the release of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs). N2O production occurs through dynamic microbial pathways that have a significant impact on the environment compared with other GHG emissions. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Emission of greenhouse gases from constructed wetlands : Nutrient status in relation to methane and nitrous oxide emission

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Christian Lundström; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Constructed wetland; greenhouse gas emission; nutrient status; ebullition; Anlagd våtmark; växthusgasutsläpp; näringsstatus; ebullition;

    Sammanfattning : Agricultural land releases large amounts of nitrogen and phosphorus to water bodies which causes eutrophication. Creating wetlands on agricultural land is one way to prevent this major issue. However, constructed wetlands are a large emission source of greenhouse gases. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Effects of cover crops on nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions in cereal cropping

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Författare :Khadija Aziz; [2022]
    Nyckelord :cover crops; nitrous oxide; C sequestration; greenhouse gases; off-season emissions; freeze-thaw cycles;

    Sammanfattning : More than 60% of anthropogenic nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions are attributed to agricultural activities. N2O production in soils highly depends on the N availability along with other factors such as soil moisture content, which provide suitable conditions for nitrification and denitrification. LÄS MER
