  1. 1. Accurate Abundances of Giant Stars in the Local disk: A manual analysis of IR APOGEE spectra

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Ivalu Barlach Christensen; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Galactic Chemical Evolution; Astrophysics; Astronomy; IR Spectroscopy; Milky Way; Abundance; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Purpose: In order to study the Galactic Chemical Evolution, elemental abundances are needed. The purpose of this work is to investigate the chemical evolution of the Milky Way by determining several elemental abundances of giants in the local disk. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Detailed chemical abundances of neutron-capture elements - from 523 local giant stars

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Rebecca Forsberg; [2019]
    Nyckelord :The Milky Way galaxy; Abundances; High-resolution spectroscopy; Neutron-capture elements; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Purpose: The purpose of this work is to determine the abundances of neutron-capture elements in solar neighborhood giant stars. This enables constraints to be put on the the cosmic origin of these elements. LÄS MER

  3. 3. The status of neutron-capture elements according to Gaia-ESO.

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Linnéa Strandell; [2017]
    Nyckelord :Neutron-capture elements; Gaia-ESO; Milky Way field stars; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to get a better understanding of the evolution of the Milky Way stellar disc by looking at the abundance ratios for neutron-capture elements in thin and thick disc stars. In this project the formation of our Galaxy’s thin and thick disc was studied by analysing 10 different neutron-capture elements in field stars measured by Gaia-ESO. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Neutron capture elements in the early Universe

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Abdalrahman Abohalima; [2017]
    Nyckelord :metal-poor; early Universe; neutron capture; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Metal-poor (MP) stars in the Milky Way (the Galaxy) and its satellite galaxies open a window into the earliest times in the history of the Universe, probing the chemistry of the earliest times. Recent galaxy formation simulations predict that the oldest MP stars are those on tightly bound orbits in the inner regions of a galaxy (Tumlinson 2010). LÄS MER

  5. 5. r-Process Simulation and Heavy-Element Nucleosynthesis.

    Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Fysik

    Författare :Jonatan Alvelid; [2014]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : r-process, short for rapid neutron capture process, is a nucleosynthesis process taking place on short time scales. Rapid neutron captures produce less and less stable neutron-rich nuclei which in turn beta minus decays when the probability for beta decay is higher than the probability for neutron captures, upon which more neutrons are captured and the process repeats itself, creating r-process paths.
