1. High Temperature Tribology of Exhaust Components in Alternative Fuel Engines
Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Institutionen för teknikvetenskap och matematikSammanfattning : Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) exhaust components are exposed to extreme operating temperatures. Thus, it is necessary that they are designed with materials that can sustain thermal and vibrational stresses. LÄS MER
2. Techniques to inject pulsating momentum
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Luleå tekniska universitet/Strömningslära och experimentell mekanikSammanfattning : Hydro power plants are an essential part of the infrastructure in Sweden as they stand for a large amount of the produced electricity and are used to regulate supply and demand on the electricity grid. Other renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power, have become more popular as they contribute to a fossil free society. LÄS MER
3. Experimental Study of Metallic Surfaces Exposed to Cavitation
Master-uppsats, KTH/MaterialvetenskapSammanfattning : Cylinder liners in heavy-duty truck engines are subjected to intense vibrations and may sustain damage from the cavitation of bubbles in the coolant liquid, with some risks of leakage and engine breakdown. An ultrasonic oscillating probe was used to simulate the pitting rates and behavior of samples extracted from cylinder liners, which are made of grey cast iron, with differences in surface roughness, glycol and inhibitor content in coolant, coolant temperature and graphite flake class; bainitic microstructures were also tested. 4. Koopman mode analysis of the side-by-side cylinder wake
Master-uppsats, KTH/MekanikSammanfattning : In many situations, fluid flows can exhibit a wide range of temporal and spatial phenomena. It has become common to extract physically important features, called modes, as a first step in the analysis of flows with high complexity. LÄS MER
5. Investigation of the Lock-in behavior of an eccentrically rotating cylinder in regard to turbomachinery application.
Master-uppsats, KTH/Kraft- och värmeteknologiSammanfattning : Interaction of fluctuating vortex shedding with blade vibration can lead to a new class of aeromechanical instability referred as Non-synchronous vibrations. Investigating a well-known case that shows similar NSV features such as a circular cylinder can develop the understanding of physics behind NSV. LÄS MER
