1. A computational model of metapopulation dynamics and organism-mediated nutrient flow
Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / Institutionen för biologi och miljövetenskapSammanfattning : The aim of this project was to assess, using in-silico experiments, how different life history char-acteristics, such as age at maturity and dispersal ability of individuals, influence the dynamics of a metapopulation. To achieve this, a novel model of a spatially explicit metapopulation, with organ-ism-mediated nutrient flow between fragmented habitat patches, was implemented by means of computer simulations. 2. House Transactions in the Macroeconomy as Needs Change over the Life Cycle
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Nationalekonomiska institutionenSammanfattning : A long-term overlapping generations macroeconomic framework is presented, in which a downsizing old generation bargains with an upsizing middle-aged generation to settle on house prices. In this model, both expectations, which are coordinated by the relative bargaining power of each generation, and credit conditions, which influence the range of prices each side will accept, are important for the resulting house price. 3. Estimating the effective population size of Swedish native cattle : understanding the demographic trajectories of indigenous Swedish cattle breeds
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Breeding and GeneticsSammanfattning : The indigenous cattle populations are on the decline globally with the continuous improvement of genetic gains in commercial breeds. Due to their unique adaptive features to the local ecosystem, traditional cattle breeds are pools of valuable genetic resources that could help combat the impact of climate change in the near future. 4. Should some be left behind in the race to increase the retirement age? Evidence from a life-cycle model pension reform simulation for Sweden.
D-uppsats, Handelshögskolan i Stockholm/Institutionen för nationalekonomiSammanfattning : Governments across the world are undertaking retirement age reforms to preserve fiscal sustainability in the face of population aging. However, research suggests that increasing the retirement age often has the unwanted side effect of increased disability insurance claiming, which can offset a big part of the savings realized due to lower spending on retirement benefits. 5. The fiscal implications of the UK's post-Brexit migration policy
D-uppsats, Handelshögskolan i Stockholm/Institutionen för nationalekonomiSammanfattning : This paper uses a sophisticated Overlapping Generations (OLG) model to examine the fiscal impacts of immigration to the UK, disaggregated by age, place of origin and degree status. We find that in 2019 alone, the flow of immigrants was worth a total of £370 billion to the UK government in terms of net present value. LÄS MER
