   Sammanfattning : Målet med denna uppsats i landsbygdsutveckling är att undersöka hur två kommuner i Uppsala län, Uppsala och Tierps kommuner, uppfattar och arbetar med social innovation, samt vilken roll landsbygden spelar i arbetet. Uppsatsen är baserad på kvalitativa forskningsintervjuer med sex personer i de två kommunerna och analyseras utifrån teorier om social innovation i forskningslitteraturen, samt ur ett government och governance perspektiv.
