1. Effects of temperature on germination and juvenile growth in Spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.)
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Crop Production EcologySammanfattning : As the worlds urban population grows more and more every year, it becomes increasingly important that cities become more self-sufficient on food. Indoor vertical hydroponic farms offer a solution to this by placing the farm in an urban environment and growing plants in a controlled environment. LÄS MER
2. Developing biofertilisers in Grenada from the residues of an anaerobic digestion plant using Sargassum seaweed : Evaluating how problematic Sargassum algae can be turned in to a resource in Caribbean states
Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknikSammanfattning : The West Indies have during recent years been experiencing large quantities of washed up Sargassum seaweed on beaches and coastlines causing many issues for local communities such as unpleasant odours, making beaches inaccessible and largely affecting tourism and fisheries. The issue has caused money loss for the communities both in cleaning costs and decreasing incomes from tourism and fishing. LÄS MER
3. Analyses of microbial community in nutrient solution with biofertilizer and risk assessment of establishment of pathogens
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Teknisk mikrobiologiSammanfattning : The societal interest for a more sustainable and circular food production is increasing. Hydroponic farming is an alternative way of growing vegetables that can bring farming into urban environments, reducing long transports of food. In parallel, the focus in waste treatment is being more directed toward resource recovery. LÄS MER
4. Nitrogen and phosphorus analysis in field cultivation of Pak choi : effect of two different compositions of fertilisers on plant and soil nutrient status
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)Sammanfattning : This pilot study was implemented to reflect the delivery and the plant availability of nitrogen and phosphorus in response to different compositions of fertilisers approved for organic farming in Sweden. The experimental approach was to compare the concentration of nitrogen and phosphorus in plant sap of Pak choi plants grown in soil treated with different organic waste such as aged cattle manure and a liquid retting digest derived from the biogas industry, with plants grown in soil treated with a blend of pelleted organic fertilisers derived from the Swedish slaughterhouse industry. 5. Nutrient dynamics in pak choi cultivation fertilized with biogas digestate : effects of non-nutrient digestate elements and amendment with mineral nutrients
Master-uppsats, SLU/Department of Biosystems and Technology (from 130101)Sammanfattning : Anaerobic digestion in biogas plants produces renewable energy and a residue which is rich in plant nutrients. This residue is called digestate. Today, these digestates are mostly spread directly onto fields as manure. LÄS MER
