1. Study of the Taxonomy of Carnivores from the Eocene-Oligocene of the Quercy Area, France
Magister-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/PaleobiologiSammanfattning : The Quercy area of France is an important site for mammal palaeontology, yet 19th century collections of this area, such as the one in the Department of Palaeobiology, Naturhistoriska riksmuseet, remain understudied due to not being well updated taxonomically and correlated stratigraphically. An updated taxonomy was created for the postcranial material of the collections, as well as the dental material originally identified to the amphicyonid genera Amphicyon, Haplocyon and Pseudocyon through study of morphological characteristics and measurements. 2. Cell Size Variation in Fossil Coccolithophores (Haptophyta) : A Study of Pliocene Sediments from Northwestern Australia
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : This report examines the size variations of fossil carbonate-producing haptophyte microalgae, coccolithophores, using sediments deposited during the Pliocene. The sediments were collected by the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) in 2015, off the coast of NW Australia (Gallagher et al., 2017). LÄS MER
3. An Investigation into Predation, Mortality and Taphonomic Bias inthe Population Distribution of Neptunea contraria from theRed Crag of East Anglia
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Predation is a key factor in evolutionary dynamics. It disrupts the potential of fossilisation in prey items and is poorly recorded in the fossil record; failed predation in conical marine gastropods is recorded in scars. LÄS MER
4. Testing the Cretaceous Diversity of Ichthyosaurs and Their Extinction Hypotheses Using a Quantitative Approach
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : As portrayed in Before the Dinosaur: the Historical Significance of the Fossil Marine Reptiles, ichthyosaurs, as other Mesozoic marine amniotes, have been unfairly overshadowed by dinosaurs in both popular culture and the field of vertebrate palaeontology. Yet by the effort of dedicated researchers, work on these fish-like marine reptiles had never died out, and in fact a second wave of interest emerged in the late 20th century. LÄS MER
