    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines if it’s possible for Global Cities to claim international political authority on a legitimate basis of State Capacity. How is it that Global Cities can develop their own independent foreign and security policies even though these areas traditionally have been seen as a monopolized core function of the nation state and its central governments? Why do the international system of nation states indirectly accepting this behaviour and, in the long run, opens up for Global Cities’ eviction of nation states as the central decision-making actor in global politics? The purpose is to clarify if this claim and the indirectly accepting of it is based on State Capacity or on other rudiments like efficiency, decisiveness or size. LÄS MER
