1. Surface and Subsurface Flow Connection and Dominating Runoff Mechanism in Hillslope of Tarfala, Northern Sweden.
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapsläraSammanfattning : The Sub artic regions are becoming increasingly important due to the effects of climate change. In northern Sweden, thawing of permafrost has led to significant increases in annual minimum flows in several catchments. LÄS MER
2. Quantifying changes in soil bioporosity in subarctic soils after earthworm invasions
Kandidat-uppsats,Sammanfattning : Pores provide important hotspots for chemical and biological processes in soils. Earthworm burrows affect the macropore structure and their actions may create new preferential pathways for water and gas flow within soils. This, in turn, indirectly affect plants, nutrient cycling, hydraulic conductivity, gas exchange, and soil organisms. LÄS MER
3. Flow pattern analysis of a Surface Flow Constructed Wetland : Treating surface runoff and landfill leachate water from the Löt waste management site
Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknikSammanfattning : The waste management and recycling company, Söderhalls Renhållningsverk (SÖRAB) have constructed a surface flow wetland in order to treat surface runoff from the waste management site, Löt. The contaminated water passes several treatment steps until it reaches the wetland and a subsequent soil infiltration step. LÄS MER
4. X-ray imaging of water flow through soil
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Soil and EnvironmentSammanfattning : In this study a laboratory experiment on preferential flow was conducted with the aim to quantify the importance of water repellency, soil structure and irrigation rate on water infiltration into soil. To do so, the study was conducted as follows: (a) comparison between the wetting fronts of the irrigations done on the same sample; (b) the tortuosity of the wetting fronts, this was analysed calculating a tortuosity index; (c) the average infiltration velocity and (d) a visual comparison between the 3D images. 5. Transport and retention of heavy metals in contaminated soil and groundwater : A case study from Pukeberg glassworks in Småland, Sweden
Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografiSammanfattning : As much as 80 000 sites, including landfills from glass production industries, are estimated to be contaminated in Sweden. One of these landfills is located near the glassworks factory of Pukeberg, in the municipality of Nybro, Southeast Sweden. LÄS MER
