  1. 1. Variation in protein precipitation and phenolic content within and among species across an elevational gradient in subarctic Sweden

    Magister-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Nyckelord :Phenolic compounds; Protein complexation; Elevational gradient; Subarctic; Fertility gradient;

    Sammanfattning : This project investigated how elevation and vegetation type influences variation in plant litter phenolic content and protein precipitation capacity among and within common plant species for two different vegetation types, heath and meadow, in a subarctic ecosystem in the Abisko region of northern Sweden. As nutrient availability generally decreases with increasing elevation as a result of decreasing temperature, I hypothesised that phenolic content would increase with elevation and be higher on the heath than the meadow. 2. 2. A comparison of protein complexation capacity among six boreal species and the consequences for nitrogen mineralization

    L3-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Forest Ecology and Management

    Författare :Jennie Sverker; [2009]
    Nyckelord :protein complexation capacity; nitrogen cycle; fire chronosequence; succession; boreal species; boreal ecology; nitrogen mineralization; competition;

    Sammanfattning : Nitrogen (N) is considered to be the most limiting nutrient for productivity in boreal forests, and the ability of plants to complex protein during decomposition is considered to be an important mechanism by which some plants regulate the N cycle. In this study I investigated whether six boreal plant species differed in their ability to complex proteins. LÄS MER
