  1. 1. Pulsed inhaled nitric oxide during mechanical ventilation in horses undergoing abdominal surgery : the effect on arterial oxygenation

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, SLU/Dept. of Clinical Sciences

    Författare :Sofia Wulcan; [2017]
    Nyckelord :PINO; nitric oxide; anaesthesia; horse; IPPV; colic; hypoxaemia;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of pulsed inhaled nitric oxide (PiNO) during intermittent positive pressure ventilation (IPPV) on arterial oxygenation and right to left vascular shunt in colic horses undergoing abdominal surgery. Hypoxemia is a serious complication commonly occurring during general equine anaesthesia. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Effects of treatment with PiNO (Pulsed Inhaled Nitric-Oxide) on the metabolism in colic horses undergoing abdominal surgery.

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Clinical Sciences

    Författare :Izabella Granswed; [2014]
    Nyckelord :Equine metabolism; anaesthesia; Pulsed Inhaled Nitric-Oxide; PiNO; horses; colic;

    Sammanfattning : The main objective of this research was to study how increased arterial oxygenation by the use of Pulsed Inhaled Nitric-Oxide (PiNO) influenced the metabolic and cardiovascular parameters on horses undergoing acute abdominal surgery because of colic. The parameters blood lactate, blood glucose, pH and heart rate were evaluated before and during anesthesia and closely after recovery. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Pulsed inhaled Nitric Oxide - a possible way to treat hypoxemia in colic horses during abdominal surgery

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Clinical Sciences

    Författare :Maja Wiklund; [2014]
    Nyckelord :Pulsed inhaled nitric oxide; equine; colic; surgery; anaesthesia;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of the present study was to evaluate if pulsed inhaled nitric oxide (PiNO) could be used as a treatment for hypoxemia during general anaesthesia in colic horses. Previous studies have shown a positive response in horses receiving PiNO in comparison to controls, but these studies have only included healthy individuals. LÄS MER
