  1. 1. Evaluating GPU for Radio Algorithms : Assessing Performance and Power Consumption of GPUs in Wireless Radio Communication Systems

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Albin André; [2023]
    Nyckelord :GPU; CUDA; Signal Processing; Radio; Algorithms; GPU; CUDA; Signalbehandling; Radio; Algoritmer;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis evaluates the viability of a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) in tasks of signal processing associated with radio base stations in cellular networks. The development of Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASICs) is lengthy and highly expensive, but they are efficient in terms of power consumption. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Personalized Federated Learning for mmWave Beam Prediction Using Non-IID Sub-6 GHz Channels

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Yuan Cheng; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Personalized Federated Learning; Millimeter wave; Beamforming; DeepMIMO; Non-IID; Personaliserad Federad Inlärning; Millimetervågor; Strålformning; DeepMIMO; Icke-IID;

    Sammanfattning : While it is difficult for base stations to estimate the millimeter wave (mmWave) channels and find the optimal mmWave beam for user equipments (UEs) quickly, the sub-6 GHz channels which are usually easier to obtain and more robust to blockages could be used to reduce the time before initial access and enhance the reliability of mmWave communication. Considering that the channel information is collected by a massive number of radio base stations and would be sensitive to privacy and security, Federated Learning (FL) is a match for this use case. 3. 3. Coordination of base station energy storage for renewable energy grid : Utilizing Base Station battery storage to stabilize grids with Variable Renewable Energy Sources

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Linus Pekkanen; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Renewable Energy; Energy Storage; Optimal Control; Model Predictive Control; Smart Grids; Machine Learning; Neural Networks; Base Stations; Telecommunications; Förnybar Energi; Energilagring; Optimal Kontroll; Modellprediktiv Reglering; Smarta Elnät; Maskininlärning; Neurala Nätverk; Basstationer; Telekommunikation;

    Sammanfattning : An increasing amount of variable renewable energy sources are being added to the world’s power grids both as an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the fight against climate change but also because some of the energy sources with the lowest levelized cost of energy are variable renewable energy sources such as wind and photovoltaics. These energy sources come with inherent difficulties since their energy production is neither constant nor entirely controllable and can cause issues for the power grids if they cause power production and consumption to become imbalanced. 4. 4. A Performance Comparison of SQL and NoSQL Database Management Systems for 5G Radio Base Station Configuration

    Master-uppsats, Linköpings universitet/Institutionen för datavetenskap

    Författare :Alexandra Goltsis; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Database; PostgreSQL; MongoDB; response time; performance; SQL; NoSQL;

    Sammanfattning : The need to store large amounts of data is always increasing and this requires better solutions for storing and managing the data. This is often done using a Database Management System (DBMS) which helps manage all data. There are a lot of different options to use today, where all serve a different purpose. LÄS MER

  5. 5. GNSS Timing Receiver Performance in Urban Canyons

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Xiangcheng Fu; [2019]
    Nyckelord :GNSS Timing Receiver; 1PPS; Synchronization; Urban Canyon;

    Sammanfattning : Time synchronization is critical for the operation of radio base stations (RBS) in telecommunication companies. Global navigation satellite system (GNSS) is an existing technology to provide precise timing information to distributed RBSs. LÄS MER
