  1. 1. Thermochemical energy utilization of biomass in Rwanda - a screening of potential feedstocks

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för tillämpad fysik och elektronik

    Författare :Felix Johansson Carne; [2022]
    Nyckelord :bioenergy; agricultural; residues; waste; agroforestry; africa; energiteknik; bioenergi; jordbruksrester; afrika; termokemisk; bränslen;

    Sammanfattning : Traditional bioenergy practices in sub-Saharan Africa involve collecting natural forest wood and burning it in simple fireplaces for household cooking. This is actually still very common, especially in rural areas. The situation is unfortunately connected to health issues, inequality and natural forest degradation and deforestation. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Concrete with low carbon dioxid emissions : Reduced amount of cement with husk ashes

    Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Byggteknik och design

    Författare :Elsa Johannessen; Julia Knutsson; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Concrete; Oat husk ash; Rice husk ash; Carbon dioxide emissions; Pozzolanic material; Environmental impact; Reduced amount of cement; Betong; Havreskalaska; Risskalaska; Koldioxidutsläpp; Puzzolana material; Miljöpåverkan; Reducerad cementmängd;

    Sammanfattning : The world is facing a major climate threat where carbon dioxide emissions are in focus. At the same time, society requires new buildings and developed infrastructure. Concrete is one of the most common building materials and 30 billion tonnes are produced annually, which corresponds to about 6 percent of the world's carbon dioxide emissions. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Use of Agricultural Wastes as Supplementary Cementitious Materials

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Byggvetenskap

    Författare :Ezio Marchetti; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Agricultural waste; Environmental impact; Concrete; Life Cycle Assessment; Oat husk ash; Rice husk ash; Supplementary cementitious materials; Sustainable Construction; Betong; Havreskalaska; Hållbar konstruktion; Jordbruksavfall; Kompletterande cementmaterial; Livscykelanalys; Miljövarudeklaration; Miljöpåverkan; Risskalaska;

    Sammanfattning : Global cement production is continuously increasing from 1990 till 2050 and growing particularly rapidly in developing countries, where it represents a crucial element for infrastructure development and industrialisation. Every tonne of ordinary Portland cement (OPC) produced releases, on average, about 800 kg of CO2 into the atmosphere, or, in total, the overall production of cement represents roughly 7% of all man-made carbon emissions.
