    Sammanfattning : The aim of this thesis is to identify and describe how the public library in Sweden is being argued for, according to the public debate. Why do we need the public library and in what way is it unique? What functions are being expressed as vital for the public library? What discourses are being expressed about the public library? These questions are answered by doing an discourse analysis of the book ”Folkbibliotekens framtid?” [The future of the public library?] (2010), edited by Roland Eliasson, where 19 persons closely connected to the library are interviewed.     Sammanfattning : The main focus of this thesis is to analyze three architecture models, displayed at three major art museums. Using Roland Barthes concept of the mythology as a meta layer to the language of the exhibition, the study of the models is also a way of studying their visual and institutional environment – thus inquiring into how the display of architectural models, in the context of the modern art exhibition, activates and displaces the discourse of the exhibition.
