1. Sensor system for pressure measuring over a sail : Construction and implementation of a sail pressure measuring system
Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)Sammanfattning : Wallenius Marine, KTH and SSPA are working together on a wind powered car carrier, that will ship cars over the atlatic. KTH has a small scale prototype of this vessel, and uses this prototype to test performance and new sensor systems, that can be used on the full scale vessel. LÄS MER
2. Sunshade Demonstrator Spacecraft Earth Sphere of Influence Escape Using a Propellant-free AOCS
Master-uppsats, KTH/RymdteknikSammanfattning : This thesis provides insights to what is peculiar about a solar sail attitude and orbit control system and provides the assessment, in the form of a feasibility study, of the effectiveness of sail tip vanes as a control hardware to escape the Earth sphere of influence. The demonstrator aims to prove the technology for the Sunshade project, a constellation of solar sails located at the Lagrangian point L1 to obscure part of the solar radiation directed towards earth. 3. Aerodynamics of Sailing Yachts : Force, Pressure and sail shape measurements as bridge between experiments and numerical simulations
Master-uppsats, KTH/Marina systemSammanfattning : The present work reports the first systematic results obtained in wind tunnel and at full scale with theexperimental apparatus developed within the joint project among Politecnico di Milano, North Sails andCSEM. The steady state upwind aerodynamics of sailing yachts are investigated through the contemporarymeasurement of global forces, distributed pressures and sail flying shapes, and with numerical simulationsbased on Potential Theory and Navier-Stokes equations. 4. An Aeroelastic Implementation for YachtSails and Rigs
Master-uppsats, KTH/Marina systemSammanfattning : An aeroelastic model has been developed to determine the elastic response of sailing yachts’ rigs and sails due to the aerodynamic pressure induced on the sails by the wind. A vortex-lattice method (VLM) is used to determine the aerodynamic pressure. The structural response is calculated with a non-linear finite element method (FEM). LÄS MER
