  1. 1. Evaluating the effects of climate change on Arctic char : including impacts of brown trout competition

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Författare :Ola Carlström; [2023]
    Nyckelord :arctic char; brown trout; climate change; diet; habitat use; temperature;

    Sammanfattning : Climate change is predicted to increase the average global temperature with 1.5 °C between 2030 and 2052. The areas that are most vulnerable for climate change are the arctic regions. Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus) is a cold-water salmonid species with the most northern distribution of all freshwater fish species. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Replacement of fish protein in fish feed : effects on the yeast flora in the gut of Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus)

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Nutrition and Management

    Författare :Hanna Rydmark; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Microbiota; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; fishmeal; mussel meal; Mytilus edulis; aquaculture;

    Sammanfattning : The aim with this study was to investigate how feeds with different protein sources influence the levels and composition of the yeast flora in the gut of Arctic charr (Salvelinus alpinus). Arctic charr were fed for two weeks on a control diet (C) with fishmeal (FM) or experimental diets with 40% FM replaced by yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) (Y), meal from blue mussel (Mytilus edulis) (M) or a feed with Baltic Sea originated protein; 33% FM, 33% mussel meal (MM) and 33% S. 3. 3. Associations between body size polymorphism in Arctic charr and benthic invertebrate communities – clues to mechanisms for population differentiation?

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Författare :Andreas Sund; [2022]
    Nyckelord :arctic charr; benthic invertebrates; polymorphism;

    Sammanfattning : Many fish populations in the north have divided into coexisting ecotypes that differ in body size. While such polymorphic fish populations have been studied for many years, the understanding of how different types of selection contribute to the formation of dwarf- and giant ecotypes remains limited. 4. 4. Fatty acid composition in Arctic char (Salvelinus alpinus) fed with red yeast biomass : a comparison between large and small specimens

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Department of Molecular Sciences

    Författare :Sofia Jacobsson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Fatty acid composition; lipid content; oleaginous yeast; Arctic char Salvelinus alpinus ; aquaculture;

    Sammanfattning : Oleaginous yeast has shown to be a promising alternative to replace vegetable oils in fish feed. A problem in aquaculture is that different growth rates can be observed among farm-raised fish, supressing the productions full potential. When different growth rates are observed, it can be questioned if the fish assimilate the feed to the same extent. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Fönsteruttag som verktyg i bevarandet av vätternrödingen (Salvelinus alpinus)

    Kandidat-uppsats, Högskolan i Skövde/Institutionen för biovetenskap

    Författare :Moa Hagström; [2022]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : Vättern är Europas femte största sjö och har en unik kallvattenekologi, här finns Europas viktigaste bestånd av röding (Salvelinus alpinus). Historiskt fiskades rödingen i hårt i Vättern med fångster på upp till 70 ton per år i mitten av 1900-talet, fångsten minskade sedan successivt tills den 2009 endast uppnådde 3 ton. LÄS MER
