1. Energy balance closure, water balance, carbon exchange, and water use efficiency : observed and modeled outcomes for a managed, hemiboreal forest in Southern Sweden
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskapSammanfattning : The claims for the potential of boreal and sub-boreal forests to combat negative effects of climate change have been substantial with over half of Earth’s primary forests found within boreal and temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. Given the likely occurrence of more extreme climate events in the future, ascertaining a better understanding of how climate effects, such as profound fluctuations in precipitation, decreases in yearly snow, faster snow melt rates, variability in evapotranspiration due to environmental stress, and related changes in the energy, hydrological, and carbon cycles will change these northern, boreal landscapes is crucial. 2. Application of the eddy-covariance method under the canopy at a boreal forest site in central Sweden
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskapSammanfattning : The eddy-covariance (EC) method was applied at 1.5 m height, for the period 2007-2010 at Norunda, central Sweden, for calculating energy (sensible and latent heat) and carbon dioxide (CO2) fluxes. The aim of this study was to assess the applicability of EC method above the forest floor. LÄS MER
3. Variability of turbulent fluxes (momentum, heat and CO2) during Upwelling conditions. A case study
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapsläraSammanfattning : Measurements of turbulent fluxes (momentum, sensible heat, latent heat and CO2) at two different heights were studied from data of a tower at Ostergarnsholm Island (Baltic Sea) during one week, while calculations using bulk formulations of fluxes were done with measurements in the tower and in two buoys moored at different locations. Different behaviors are found for the different fluxes. LÄS MER
4. The Behaviour of the Latent Heat Exchange Coefficient in the Stable Marine Boundary Layer
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på grundnivå, Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : Knowledge of the turbulent fluxes at the sea surface is important for understanding the interaction between atmosphere and ocean. With better knowledge, improvements in the estimation of the heat exchange coefficients can be made and hence models are able to predict the weather and future climate with higher accuracy. LÄS MER
5. Flux Attenuation due to Sensor Displacement over Sea
Uppsats för yrkesexamina på grundnivå, Institutionen för geovetenskaperSammanfattning : In this study the flux attenuation due to sensor displacement has been investigated over sea using an extensive set of data from the "Ocean Horizontal Array Turbulence Study". All previous investigations of the flux attenuation have been performed over land. LÄS MER
