Uppsatsen vill svara på tre frågor; 1) Hur ser Malmö stads hållbarhetsmål ut, och på vilket sätt kan en skogsträdgård hjälpa till att uppnå dessa mål? 2) Hur kan en skogsträdgård i Malmö utformas, vad gäller sortval och skötsel? samt 3) Är flera skogsträdgårdar i städerna önskvärt? Genom en litteraturstudie har en översyn av Malmö stads hållbarhetsmål gjorts, och studien fortsätter med att beskriva skogsträdgårdens olika betingelser samt dess påverkan på ekosystemtjänster.
