    Sammanfattning : Silurian oncocerid cephalopods, collected by Gustaf Lindström’s and co-workers at the end of the 19th century on the island of Gotland are described. The material is from the Samsugns quarries and found within large thanatocoenoses in the Wenlock Slite Beds. LÄS MER

    Sammanfattning : An investigation of carbonate sediments from the upper part of the Slite Beds on Gotland shows that the deposition has occurred in a shallow oxidated marine environments. The sediments in S:t Olofsholms Quarry consist of six different lithologies: 1) Coarse-grained crinoid rudstone, 2) Fine-grained crinoid rudstone, 3) Coarse-grained crinoid grainstone, 4) Fine-grained crinoid grainstone, 5) Floatstone 6) Boundstone The sediments consist for the most part of crinoid fragments of sand to gravel size and were deposited during high energy conditions close to a reef.     Sammanfattning : Geophysical and geochemical methods such as investigation of calcium carbonate content, organic carbon content, magnetic susceptibility and grey scale image analysis may be utilised as correlation tools of sedimentary carbonate rocks. Low carbonate content indicates high terrestrial input into a basin and is associated with clay horizons containing high amounts of organic carbon and also high magnetic susceptibility. LÄS MER
