  1. 1. Visualisering av tystade historier - En dekolonial kulturanalys av verket I firandet av vår kamp finns deras undergång

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för kulturvetenskaper

    Författare :Jennifer Turano; [2023-08-09]
    Nyckelord :Memorials; Whiteness; Non-whiteness; Decolonial artivism; Decolonial theory; Post-immigrant generations; Racism; Memory;

    Sammanfattning : The dominant narrative of history, prevalent in Sweden, is of a country which has no structural racism and that had no part in the colonization of the Americas or in the transatlantic slave trade. This is far from the truth, and this study connects Sweden’s role in the slave trade and as a country with colonial ambitions, as well as its history of racial biology, with the racialization of non-white bodies. 2. 2. A Machine Learning Approach on Analysis of Emission Spectra for Application in XFEL Experiments

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för fysik och astronomi

    Författare :Harald Agelii; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Structural biology; Machine learning; Neural networks; emission spectrum; XFEL; X-ray free electron laser; SFX; Serial femtosecond X-ray crystallography; Proteins; Diagnostics;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis we investigate two potential applications of machine learning in the context of X-ray imaging and spectroscopy of biological samples, particularly such using X-ray free electron lasers (XFEL). We first investigate the possibility of using an emission spectrum, recorded from a sample after being probed by an incident X-ray, as a diagnostic tool. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Characterization of Mitilysin Pores by Cryo-electron Microscopy

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Författare :Vladimir Novakovic; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Mitilysin; Mly; Structural Biology; Cryo-EM; pore; toxin; pore forming proteins; pore forming toxins; PFP; PFT;

    Sammanfattning : Pore forming toxins (PFTs) are a large group of proteins found mainly in bacteria with some exceptions found in animals. They bind and form pores in their target membranes and form pores, which leads to cell death. Among these are cholesterol-dependent cytolysins (CDC), which require the presence of cholesterol to bind target membranes. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Determining Protein Conformational Ensembles by Combining Machine Learning and SAXS

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Tillämpad fysik

    Författare :Samuel Eriksson Lidbrink; [2023]
    Nyckelord :AlphaFold; AlphaFold2; SAXS; protein conformational ensembles; machine learning; protein conformations; reweighting; SAXS; AlphaFold; AlphaFold2; proteinkonformationsensembler; maskininlärning; proteinkonformationer; omviktning;

    Sammanfattning : In structural biology, immense effort has been put into discovering functionally relevant atomic resolution protein structures. Still, most experimental, computational and machine learning-based methods alone struggle to capture all the functionally relevant states of many proteins without very involved and system-specific techniques. 5. 5. Towards time-resolved cryo-EM of SARS-CoV-2 replication-transcription complex and Staphylococcus aureus DNA gyrase

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning

    Författare :Anna Králová; [2023]
    Nyckelord :time-resolved cryo-EM; DNA gyrase; SARS-CoV-2; replication-transcription complex; protein purification;

    Sammanfattning : Time-resolved cryo-EM has already provided ground-breaking discoveries in various fields, including structural biology, biochemistry, and drug development. Compared to traditional structural biology methods where mostly stabilized conformations are reconstructed, the main advantage of time-resolved cryo-EM is its ability to capture dynamic processes in biological samples at near-atomic resolution, which allows for studying biological structures as they change and interact in real-time.
