  1. 1. High levels of nickel from sulphide soil in Umeå's raw water : Modeling of groundwater flow and mass transport in Forslunda aquifer

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Merhawi Belai; [2024]
    Nyckelord :nickel; sulfide; sulphide; groundwater; modeling; mass transport; Feflow; Umeå; nickel; sulfid; monosulfid; grundvatten; modellering; masstransport; Feflow; Umeå;

    Sammanfattning : The raw water in some of Umeå's abstraction wells has shown high nickel levels for more than a decade. The cause has not been determined but there is an investigation from 2010 where the results indicate sulphide clay found adjacent to two basins used for artificial infiltration. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Biokinetic Characterization of Methane Oxidizing Microbiomes Co-metabolizing Trace Organic Chemicals

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Teknisk mikrobiologi

    Författare :Hugo Möller; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Methanotrophs; organic micropollutants; co-metabolism; biodegradation; applied microbiology; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : The presence of organic micropollutants (OMPs) in wastewater effluents is concerning, as they pose a threat to human and aquatic health. Biodegradation via methane-oxidizing bacteria (MOB) is an attractive option, as the method is cheap and effective. MOB can co-metabolize a variety of substrates, there among organic micropollutants. 3. 3. THE FIRST ACTIVE ACID SULFATE SOIL FOUND OUTSIDE THE BALTIC BASIN, IN VISKA VALLEY WEST COAST OF SWEDEN

    Master-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Johanna Bergström; [2023-09-15]
    Nyckelord :Acid sulfate soil; AS soil; ERT measurements; resistivity; Baltic basin; Swedish west coast; acidification; Tapes transgression;

    Sammanfattning : Acid sulfate (AS) soils are naturally formed but are responsible for environmental problem due to its low pH. Drainage of active AS soils can lead to mobilization of harmful metals and a severe pH drop in nearby aquatic environments, which in turn may harm the ecological conditions. LÄS MER

  4. 4. PGE Geochemistry and Mineralogy of Dunite, Chromitite, and Laterite Samples from the Acoje Ophiolite Block, Philippines

    Master-uppsats, Luleå tekniska universitet/Geovetenskap och miljöteknik

    Författare :Michelle Dossey; [2023]
    Nyckelord :PGM; PGE; laterite; limonite; chromitite; dunite; platinum group minerals; platinum group elements; Acoje; Philippines;

    Sammanfattning : Ni-laterites have the potential to become unconventional ore deposits for platinum group elements (PGE). This study was conducted to determine enrichment trends of PGE as a result of the Ni-laterization process. LÄS MER

  5. 5. A Petrographic and Paragenetic Characterization of the Ertelien Ni-Cu Deposit (Norway)

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Alena Niarezka; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Ertelien Ni-Cu deposit; ore geology; enrichment processes; nickel; cobalt; copper; optical microscopy; electron probe micro-analysis; critical metals; Ertelien Ni-Cu fyndighet; malmgeologi; anrikningsprocesser; nickel; kobolt; koppar; optisk mikroskopi; elektronsondsmikroanalys; kritiska metaller;

    Sammanfattning : The escalating demand for metals driven by advancements in renewable energy technologies and hightech products has underscored the significance of understanding and characterizing ore deposits. This study focuses on the Ertelien Ni-Cu deposit in Norway, a region rich in nickel, cobalt, and copper resources—essential components for the transition to a sustainable energy future. LÄS MER
