Sammanfattning : Tailings dams, due to their sheer size and metal content, pose safety and environmental hazards. The Småltjarnen repository, which hosts material from the largest known tungsten mineralization in Sweden named the Yxsjöberg deposit, is estimated to contain 2. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : Storglaciären is a sub-Arctic polythermal glacier in northern Sweden. Twenty years' monitoring of thecold surface layer found that it has lost one third of its total volume of cold ice with an average thinningrate of 0.80 ± 0.24 m·a-1 for the period of 1989-2009. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : The Greenland Ice sheet (GIS) is the second largest ice sheet on Earth and thus stores a large amount of Earths freshwater. Because of climate change and the Arctic amplification, GIS is experiencing changes and increased melt rates. The total mass budget determines the amount of sea level rise caused by input from freshwater from the GIS. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : Climate changes have a large impact on precipitation patterns and precipitation variability change. With this in mind, precipitation over Greenland is studied. This is done for present day precipitation model data from 1991-2010 compared to future model simulations of precipitation for 2081-2100. LÄS MER

Sammanfattning : Heavy metal contamination in the environment is a global issue that is likely to increase in the future. This report investigates a construction area in which increased concentrations of the heavy metals cadmium, cobalt, copper, nickel and zinc and a decreased pH-value has been observed in the surface water recipient.
