11. Genetics of gaits in Icelandic horses
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Breeding and GeneticsSammanfattning : A genome-wide association analysis of Icelandic horses has shown that a mutation in DMRT3, doublesex and mab-3 related transcription factor 3 (‘gait keeper’ mutation), has a strong impact on gait pattern. The DMRT3 mutant allele (A) has been found in high frequency in gaited breeds, and breeds used for harness racing, while non-gaited breeds were homozygous for the wild-type allele (C). LÄS MER
12. Development of real-time RT-PCR for the detection of human sapovirus in foods
Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of MicrobiologySammanfattning : Food-poisoning is a major health problem and an estimated half a million Swedes are food-poisoned annually, with acute gastroenteritis as a consequence. One of the major causes of contaminated foods is related to food- and waterborne viruses. LÄS MER
13. Endometrial gene expression related to recurrent miscarriage
Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för kvinnors och barns hälsaSammanfattning : A woman’s uterus is a safe place for the baby to grow and get nourished which is not always the case since the endometrium can, due to some underlying causes repel the fertilised egg which in other words means that the woman undergoes miscarriage. Recurrent miscarriage is defined as three or more pregnancy losses before 22 weeks of gestation. LÄS MER
14. No association between folate intake, pregnancy outcome and single nucleotide polymorphisms in the MTHFR gene in women with unexplained infertility
Kandidat-uppsats, Institutionen för kvinnors och barns hälsaSammanfattning : Folate has a direct effect on DNA synthesis which is a major factor in embryo development. In 10% of all infertility couples, there is no apparent cause of infertility. One theory is that folate metabolism is affected in these couples and that it is a possible cause of infertility. LÄS MER
15. The Influence of Host Genetics on JCV and EBV Antibody Levels in Multiple Sclerosis Patients and Controls
Master-uppsats, Institutionen för fysik, kemi och biologi; Tekniska högskolanSammanfattning : Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic inflammatory disease of the central nervous system (CNS), characterized by lesions formed due to demyelination. MS is a complex disease thought to be triggered by environmental factors in genetically predisposed individuals. The strongest associated susceptibility allele is HLA-DRB1*1501. LÄS MER
