  1. 1. Phase Transitions in the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model with a Softly-Broken Z2 Symmetry

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Filip Gustavsson; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Particle Physics; Beyond Standard Model; Two-Higgs Doublet Model; 2HDM; Electroweak Phase Transitions; Strong First-order Phase Transition; Dimensional Reduction; CP-conserving; Softly broken Z2-symmetry; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The two-Higgs-doublet model (2HDM) is an extension to the Standard Model which adds a second Higgs doublet. This extension provides freedom within the model, in comparison to the Standard Model, which makes it possible to study strong electroweak phase transitions. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Phenomenological exploration of flavored Grand Unification through high-scale matching and renormalization group flow

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Hector Tiblom; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Grand Unification; GUT; trinification; spontaneous symmetry breaking; effective field theory; EFT; high-scale matching; renormalization group flow; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The phenomenological success of the Standard Model (SM), and its unification of the electromagnetic and weak forces has inspired the search for a Grand Unified Theory (GUT), that dynamically reduces to the SM at low energies. In this work, we consider one such GUT, based on the trinification model [SU(3)]³ with an additional local SU(2) family symmetry, that is then broken directly to the gauge symmetry group of the SM. 3. 3. Using Neural Networks to Probe the Parameter Space of a 3HDM with a U(1) times Z2 Flavor Symmetry

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Ludvig Siwe; [2020]
    Nyckelord :Three Higgs Doublet Model; 3HDM; Machine Learning; Neural Network; Genetic Algorithm; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Probing the physical regions in large parameter spaces of typical Standard Model (SM) extensions can be a very difficult computational task. In this thesis project, a new framework has been developed that utilises well-known Machine Learning (ML) techniques in the form of neural networks trained by a genetic algorithm. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Phenomenology of a Three Higgs Doublet Model with a U(1)xZ2 flavour symmetry

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Ian Padilla; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Phenomenology Physics Beyond the Standard Model Three Higgs Doublet Model Flavour Symmetry; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : We have studied the main features and the phenomenological consistency of a family-nonuniversal Three Higgs Doublet Model (3HDM) with a softly broken U(1)xZ2 family symmetry that enforces the flavour hierarchies in the Standard Model (SM) while implementing a tree-level Flavour Changing Neutral Current (FCNC) suppression in a Branco-Grimus-Lavoura way. Furthermore, the alignment limit is imposed in the scalar sector to enforce the physical scalar spectrum to accommodate a SM-like Higgs boson. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Anomaly-free Froggatt-Nielsen extensions of the Standard Model with two Higgs doublets

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Felix Tellander; [2018]
    Nyckelord :Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : In this Master thesis we extend the Standard Model with an additional $U(1)$ gauge group and an additional Higgs doublet with a lepton specific $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry. This is used in a gauged version of the Froggatt-Nielsen mechanism to describe the observed masses and mixings among fermions. LÄS MER
