  1. 1. Modeling of RF Heating in the JET Tokamak

    Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :Emil Söderman; Wilhelm Holmberg; [2021]
    Nyckelord :fusion; tokamak; ICRH; RF heating; JET;

    Sammanfattning : Fusion reactors need methods to couple externalpower to confined plasmas. Ion cyclotron resonance heating(ICRH) is a method to radiate electromagnetic waves to couplepower to the kinetic motion of gyrating ions in a plasma. In thisreport we study ICRH with regard to the dispersive effects ofthe confined plasma in the JET tokamak. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Fusion energy : Critical analysis of the status and future prospects

    L2-uppsats, Högskolan i Gävle/Avdelningen för bygg- energi- och miljöteknik

    Författare :Leizuri Zabala; [2018]
    Nyckelord :Fusion energy; fusion reactors; Tokamak reactors; fusion fuels; ITER;

    Sammanfattning : The need to make maximum use of renewable resources to the detriment of fossil fuels to achieve environmental goals with an increasing energy demand is driving research into the development of technologies to obtain energy from sources that are not currently being exploited, one of them being fusion energy. The aim of this report is to provide a general overview of fusion and to provide a critical opinion on whether fusion will become a commercial energy source in the future, and if so when. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Modelling of Collisionless Alpha-particle Confinement in Tokamaks

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, KTH/Fusionsplasmafysik

    Författare :Tomas Lycken; [2015]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : A collisionless model for fast-ion transport in a tokamak reactor is derived from first principles, and a new orbitfollowing code is developed to simulate this model. Results from the model applied on two scenarios of DT fusion plasmas, one from ITER and one from JET, are compared, and the prompt losses as well as the effects of orbit shapes are quantified; it is shown that both the prompt losses and the orbit effect on confined particles are very small in both reactors.
