  1. 1. The Sound of Skepticism Analyzing Climate Change Denial in Swedish Podcasts and YouTube Channels

    Kandidat-uppsats, Göteborgs universitet / / Institutionen för sociologi och arbetsvetenskap

    Författare :Victoria Vallström; [2024-02-14]
    Nyckelord :denialism; climate skepticism; social movements; countermovements; digital media; digital data; computational grounded theory; topic modeling; computational text analysis;

    Sammanfattning : This study explores Sweden's climate change denial by analyzing the spoken-word discourse of its countermovement, focusing on digital media content from Swedish parliament member Elsa Widding with an aim to provide empirical insights into the discourse of Sweden's Climate Change Countermovement (CCCM). Questions guiding this study are: What are the most prevalent topics and themes related to climate change denial and skepticism? How do they align with established categories of climate change denial, shaping the overall narrative? What mobilizing ideas and meanings are present, how are they shaped, and how do they contribute to the movement's goals? 3. 3. Predicting the Unpredictable – Using Language Models to Assess Literary Quality

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för lingvistik och filologi

    Författare :Yaru Wu; [2023]
    Nyckelord :perplexity; variance; unpredictability; homogeneity; generative pre-trained models; text generation; literary quality;

    Sammanfattning : People read for various purposes like learning specific skills, acquiring foreign languages, and enjoying the pure reading experience, etc. This kind of pure enjoyment may credit to many aspects, such as the aesthetics of languages, the beauty of rhyme, and the entertainment of being surprised by what will happen next, the last of which is typically featured in fictional narratives and is also the main topic of this project. 4. 4. Efficient Sentiment Analysis and Topic Modeling in NLP using Knowledge Distillation and Transfer Learning

    Master-uppsats, KTH/Skolan för elektroteknik och datavetenskap (EECS)

    Författare :George Malki; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Large Language Model; RoBERTa; Knowledge distillation; Transfer learning; Sentiment analysis; Topic modeling; Stor språkmodell; RoBERTa; Kunskapsdestillation; överföringsinlärning; Sentimentanalys; Ämnesmodellering;

    Sammanfattning : This abstract presents a study in which knowledge distillation techniques were applied to a Large Language Model (LLM) to create smaller, more efficient models without sacrificing performance. Three configurations of the RoBERTa model were selected as ”student” models to gain knowledge from a pre-trained ”teacher” model. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Unearthing the social-ecological cascades of the fall armyworm invasion: A computer-assisted text analysis of digital news articles

    Master-uppsats, Stockholms universitet/Stockholm Resilience Centre

    Författare :Kathryn Bjorklund; [2023]
    Nyckelord :emerging pests and pathogens; social-ecological cascades; fall armyworm; Spodoptera frugiperda; structural topic modeling;

    Sammanfattning : Understanding the complex nature of social-ecological cascades, or chain reactions of events that lead to widespread change in a system, is crucial for navigating the challenges they present. Emerging pests and pathogens, such as the fall armyworm, provide an opportunity to study these cascades in greater detail. LÄS MER
