  1. 11. Mapping moth induced birch forest damage in northern Sweden, with MODIS satellite data

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för naturgeografi och ekosystemvetenskap

    Författare :Kristian Morin; [2013]
    Nyckelord :physical geography; topography; TIMESAT; Epirrita autumnata; geometrids; time series; MODIS; remote sensing; geography; birch forest; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : Large synchronous outbreaks of herbivory geometrids is regularly occurring at 9-10 years intervals when they reach peak densities in the Fennoscandian birch forest, in the northern part of Scandinavia (Tenow 1972, Bylund 1995). Climate change is likely to increase the frequency, intensity and extent of the outbreak due to increasing temperatures in the area (Callaghan 2010, Heliasz et al. LÄS MER

  2. 12. Limnological responses to late Holocene permafrost dynamics at the Stordalen mire, Abisko, northern Sweden

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Geologiska institutionen

    Författare :Anders Nilsson; [2006]
    Nyckelord :geography; geology; limnological responses; late Holocene; permafrost dynamics; Stordalen mire; Abisko; northern Sweden; Earth and Environmental Sciences;

    Sammanfattning : A composite sediment sequence, consisting of a Russian core and an overlapping freeze core, comprising the uppermost meter of the sediment record, was retrieved from Lake Inre Abborrtjärn in the Torneträsk valley in Lappland, northern Sweden. The core was subsampled for analysis of organic matter content, inorganic carbon content and analysis of the sediment composition using a technique known as structural analysis, resulting in a high-resolution data set spanning the last 2000 years. 3. 13. Modelling the Wind Climate in Mountain Valleys Using the MIUU Mesoscale Model

    Magister-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Författare :Nikolaus Juuso; [2002]
    Nyckelord :MIUU model; wind climate; mountain meteorology;

    Sammanfattning : High average wind speeds have been measured in many valleys. The reasons for these high winds are channelling effects of two physical origins, forced channelling and pressure driven channelling. LÄS MER
