  1. 1. Characterization of surface defects caused by ultrasonic cleaning of aluminium

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad materialvetenskap

    Författare :Emanuel Eriksson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Ultrasonic cleaning; surface cleaning; metal; aluminium; 7050; 2050; defects; surface defects; Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy; Scanning Electron Microscopy; Vertical Scanning Interferometry;

    Sammanfattning : This master thesis studies the behaviour of two aluminium alloys in ultrasonic cleaning at two different intensities, as well as the effect of a cleaning solution, Formula 815 GD-NF on the same surface have been studied with respect to surface roughness and material composition. Methods like Light Optical Microscopy (LOM), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Energy Dispersive Spectroscopy (EDS) and 3D topography using white light interferometry (VSI) was used to study the surface and material composition. 2. 2. Friction and wear study of lean powder metallurgy steel in a lubricated sliding contact

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad materialvetenskap

    Författare :Caroline Lejonklo; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Lean steel; Powder metallurgy PM ; Powder metallurgy steel PM steel ; Friction; Wear; Sliding contact; Lubricated; Porosity; Tribology; Adhesive wear; Abrasive wear; Gear; Gear tooth; Particles; Polyalphaolefin 8 PAO 8 ; Contact pressure; Density; Light optical microscopy LOM ; Scanning electron microscopy SEM ; Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy EDS ; Vertical svanning interferometry VSI ; Pin on disc; Pin-on-disc;

    Sammanfattning : A fairly new technology used to produce metallic components is powder metallurgy (PM). Among the advantages with this technique are decreased cost of production for complex-shaped parts, new alloys are made possible, reduced end processing, less material loss, and vibrational damping effects. 3. 3. Boric acid as a lubricating additive in fuels and in hydraulic oils

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad materialvetenskap

    Författare :Simon Ström; [2018]
    Nyckelord :Boric acid; tribology; lubricant; fuel; hydraulic oil; additive;

    Sammanfattning : Boric acid based fuel and oil additives were investigated in this study, with the aims to gain a deeper understanding of how the boric acid fuel additive behaves, to investigate the effect of low rates of fuel additive addition and tribofilm longevity, and to investigate how boric acid behaves as a hydraulic oil additive. Fuel additive experiments were performed in a reciprocating sliding rig with a cylinder on flat contact geometry with fuel additive sprayed on the contact repeatedly, whereas the hydraulic oil experiments were performed in a reciprocating sliding rig with a ball on flat contact with the oil and additive present from the start. 4. 4. Investigation of tribological mechanisms of a boron additive in lubricants and fuel enhancer

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad materialvetenskap

    Författare :Elin Johnsson; [2015]
    Nyckelord :tribology; boric acid; lubricant; additive; oil; friction;

    Sammanfattning : The effect of using a boric acid based additive in lubricants and fuel enhancers was investigated in this study. Experiments were performed in a reciprocating and a continuous sliding ball-on-disk test equipment. Different oil types and temperatures were used. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Model test for fabrication and separation of wear particles in hip implants

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, Tillämpad materialvetenskap

    Författare :Charlotte Skjöldebrand; [2013]
    Nyckelord :hip implant; model test; wear particles; silicon nitride;

    Sammanfattning : Total hip replacement is a common orthopedic surgery today with a population with an increasing life expectancy and a more active lifestyle. Most implants have a life expectancy of 10 years or longer, however after 25 years one out of four implants has been revised. This means that the risk of a secondary surgery is high for young patients. LÄS MER
