  1. 1. Verification of HARMONIE-AROME, ECMWF-IFS and WRF: Visibility and Cloud Base Height

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Författare :Elin Kindlundh; [2020]
    Nyckelord :HARMONIE-AROME; ECMWF-IFS; WRF; verification; visibility; cloud base height; HARMONIE-AROME; ECMWF-IFS; WRF; verifikation; sikt; molnbashöjd;

    Sammanfattning : Visibility and cloud base height are two important parameters within aviation meteorology and verification of operational numerical weather prediction (NWP) models with regard to these two parameters is therefore important. Visibility is often parameterized through an extinction coefficient, which is dependent on for example liquid or ice water content, however it also depends on the humidity, precipitation intensity and particle concentration. 2. 2. The electricity demand andsupply in El Espino : Alternatives for diversification of renewabletechnologies

    Kandidat-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknik

    Författare :Jessica Granqvist; Lily Gao; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Hybrid system; wind turbine; solar PV; optimization; rural electrification; Hybridsystem; vindturbin; sol PV; optimisering; landsbyggdselektrifiering;

    Sammanfattning : The use of alternative fuels, particularly renewable energy sources, has been an important strategy to achieve greenhouse gas emission reductions. In Bolivia, many rural areas struggle with an unreliable power supply. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Quantifying the Shadow Effect between Offshore Wind Farms with Idealized Mesoscale Models and Observed Wind Data

    Magister-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :David Werner; [2016]
    Nyckelord :Shadow effect; offshore wakes; atmospheric stability; analog ensemble; wake forecasting; idealized mesoscale modeling; Weather Research Forecast WRF model; downscaling; North Sea; Princes Amalia; Egmond aan Zee;

    Sammanfattning : Two post processing methods for quantifying the shadow effect of the offshore wind farm Princes Amalia (PA) onto Egmond aan Zee (OWEZ) wind farm are analyzed and benchmarked. The first method is the author’s proposed shadow effect determination method (SEDM), which quantifies an offshore wind farm’s shadow effect based on mesoscale WRF (Weather Research Forecast) idealized modeling and the observed frequency of the analyzed site’s wind conditions. 4. 4. Case study of the extreme precipitation events in the south-western part of Sweden, August 2014

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Luft-, vatten- och landskapslära

    Författare :Anna Vesslén; [2015]
    Nyckelord :;

    Sammanfattning : In August 2014, parts of south-western Sweden were flooded due to intense precipitation. It caused large material damages and problems in the infrastructure. Since the sea surface temperature (SST) was higher than normal during the month, it was speculated that it was one of the reasons for the heavy precipitation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Uncertainty Analysis of Long Term Correction Methods for Annual Average Winds

    Master-uppsats, Institutionen för fysik

    Författare :Rickard Klinkert; [2012]
    Nyckelord :Uncertainty; Long-term-correction; Measure-Correlate-Predict; Sector-Bin; Synthetic time series; Reference dataset; Weather observation stations; WRF; MERRA; QuikSCAT; NCEP FNL; Bootstrap; sampling; North Sea.; Osäkerhet; Measure-Correlate-Predict; årsmedelvind; Sektor-Bin; Syntetiska tidsserier; referensdataset; väderobservationsstationer; WRF; MERRA; QuikSCAT; NCEP FNL; Bootstrap; sampling; Nordsjön.;

    Sammanfattning : For the construction of a wind farm, one needs to assess the wind resources of the considered site location. Using reference time series from numerical weather prediction models, global assimilation databases or observations close to the area considered, the on-site measured wind speeds and wind directions are corrected in order to represent the actual long-term wind conditions.
