    Sammanfattning : In the beginning of 2017, the debate regarding freedom of conscience and abortions surfaced again in Sweden, when the Labour Arbitration Court raised the case of the midwife Ellinor Grimmark. Grimmark had been denied work as a midwife, as she was unwilling to perform abortions, put in a contraceptive copper coil, and to provide patients with so-called oral emergency contraceptive. By analysing texts from three important actors in the abortion debate in Bolivia, the studyshows on what arguments and discourses that are used within the debate, as well asconsideringthe interesting role of Católicas por el Derecho a Decidir (CDD -Catholics for the Right to Decide),that isa feminist organisation fighting for a complete decriminalisation of abortion in Bolivia, but are also Catholics.     Sammanfattning : Recent debate on abortions in Swedish media has been focused on the question of freedom of conscience for the medical staff in abortion care, and in that way shifted the abortion debate from focusing on women as center of the debate, to focusing on the medical staff instead.     Sammanfattning : This thesis analyzes two attempts at restricting women’s access to abortion with different outcomes. In 2014 a policy proposal seeking to criminalize abortion in Spain was withdrawn after a ten month long debate, while a policy proposal introducing obstacles for women to have an abortion was adopted in Portugal in 2015 after a quiet reform process.
