  1. 1. Assessing the Eco-efficiency of Swedish Crop Farms and the Role of Subsidies : a Directional Distance Function Approach

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Economics

    Författare :Therese Ratilla; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Swedish crop farmers; CAP subsidies; FADN; stochastic frontier analysis; multi-output; one-step approach;

    Sammanfattning : The agriculture sector’s contribution to global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and its increasing vulnerability to the effects of climate change warrants assessments considering not only on-farm productivity but also the industry’s environmental sustainability. Utilizing the concept of eco-efficiency, this study analyzes the environmental performance of Swedish crop farms by incorporating farm-level GHG emissions as an undesirable output in the production function. 2. 2. Struggling to make a life in the Peruvian Amazon: A case study on the livelihood activities in the indigenous community Naranjal

    Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för geovetenskaper

    Författare :Célina Marie Scülfort; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Sustainable Development; SDGs 2; 3; 15; agriculture and forestry; rural livelihoods; indigenous communities; Peruvian Amazon; forest landscapes; smallholder farming; access to food; local knowledge;

    Sammanfattning : International climate mitigation agendas increasingly focus on the conservation of tropical forests such as the Amazon due to their high potential of sequestering large amounts of carbon. At the same time, Peru’s Amazonian frontier is increasingly subject to market pressures and other factors contributing to deforestation and the expansion of the agricultural frontier. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Sustainable Cattle Production in Brazil - The Agricultural Innovation System of Integrated Livestock Systems in Mato Grosso State

  5. 5. Whole farm technical efficiency : the case of Ethiopian smallholders: time-variant stochastic frontier model

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Economics

    Författare :Astewale Bimr Melaku; [2018]
    Nyckelord :smallholder farmers; technical efficiency; time-variant; Ethiopia;

    Sammanfattning : This study uses a time-varying random-effects stochastic frontier model to estimate level of whole farm technical efficiency using 3,465 observations of sample smallholder farmers located in Tigray, Amhara, Oromia, and Southern Nation and Nationalities (SNNP) regions of Ethiopia. A baseline econometric analysis has been done by employing Corrected Ordinary Least Square (COLS) and cross-section data models prior to the panel data model analysis as a robustness check. LÄS MER
