  1. 1. Decay Chains of Fast Alpha Emitters in the Actinide Region

    Magister-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Författare :Tanvir Sayed; [2024]
    Nyckelord :alpha decay; alpha emissions; fine structure; decay chain; decay scheme; alpha spectrometry; actinide; nucleus; nuclear structure; nuclear states; energy levels; uranium isotopes; U310 experiment; parasitic runs; decay station; TASISpec ; moving window deconvolution; digitisers; alpha-gamma coincidence; 221-Th decay; fine structure of alpha decay to 217-Ra; GSI; Gamow s theory; Geiger-Nuttall; chain search; short half-lives; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : With the advent of increasingly advanced spectroscopic instruments after the turn of the century, it has become accessible to unravel the structure of instantly ‘vanishing’ nuclei, with lifetimes as short as 1 μs, and responsible for pile-up events in analog electronics. Experimental data has been recorded by the Nuclear Structure Group at Lund University for 48Ca/50Ti + nat. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Exploring alternative surfactants to replace PEG within lipid nanoparticles

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Livsmedelsteknik och nutrition (master); Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (CI); Lunds universitet/Bioteknik (master)

    Författare :Elina Edidovica; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Lipid nanoparticle; polyethelyne glycol PEG ; alpha-tomatine; N-hexadecyl beta d-maltoside HDM ; DOPC; DPPC; cholesterol; film hydration; stability study; DLS; Cryo-TEM; SAXS; pharmaceutical formulation; Chemistry;

    Sammanfattning : Over the past decade an increasing amount of studies has demonstrated that PEGylation not only precipitates reductions in drug delivery efficiency but also triggers the immune system to produce antibodies, specifically anti-PEG antibodies. The objective of my thesis is to explore alternative surfactants that could viably replace PEG within lipid nanoparticles. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Characterisation of the LYCCA Double-Sided Silicon Strip Detectors

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Författare :Marwan Mohamed; [2023]
    Nyckelord :DSSD LYCCA HISPEC FAIR Characterisation; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The goal of this thesis work is to describe the methods used and perform comprehensive testing of the Double-Sided Silicon-Strip Detectors (DSSD) prior to their implementation in the Lund-York-Cologne CAlorimeter (LYCCA) detector. In the framework of this project, the DSSD characterisation was carried out to ensure specification compliance prior to their "in-kind contribution" delivery to the HISPEC experiment at the NUSTAR collaboration. 4. 4. Forming wide-orbit planets via pebble accretion

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Nerea Gurrutxaga; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Planet Formation; Pebble Accretion; Protoplanetary Disk; Wide-Orbit Planet; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : The possibility that detected substructures in protoplanetary disks, such as gaps, rings and cavities, are created by distant protoplanets has prompted an inquiry into the mechanism responsible for their formation. These wide-orbit young bodies are likely to form relatively rapidly in the outer regions of circumstellar disks. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Prototyping of an automated cyclic Neutron Activation Analysis setup

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Cornelius Maurer; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Nuclear Physics; Neutron activation analysis; cyclic-NAA; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : A prototype Neutron Activation Analysis (NAA) setup based on a Deuterium-Tritium (DT) neutron generator is under development at Lund University. It serves as proof-of-principle for NAA based on a Compact Accelerator-driven Neutron Source. LÄS MER
