1. Gravitational Collapse of a Massless Scalar Field in a Theory of Minimally Modified Gravity
Master-uppsats, KTH/FysikSammanfattning : This thesis explores the spherically symmetric gravitational collapse of a massless scalar field in a minimally modified gravity theory denoted VCDM (V replaces $\Lambda$ in the $\Lambda$CDM abbreviation), a class of theories propagating the same degrees of freedom as general relativity at the expense of broken 4D diffeomorphism invariance. Numerical evolution of the equations of motion reveals that for small initial scalar profile amplitudes, no black hole forms from the collapse. LÄS MER
2. Vehicle dynamics modelling of electromagnetic suspensions for MAGLEV applications
Master-uppsats, KTH/Väg- och spårfordon samt konceptuell fordonsdesignSammanfattning : MAGnetic LEVitation Guidance System (MAGLEV) technology was commercially introduced relatively recently in the guided transport field. It is based on removing the wheels and rails of classic railway systems and supporting and guiding the train with magnets and magnetic forces instead. LÄS MER
3. On Predicting Price Volatility from Limit Order Books
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Matematiska institutionenSammanfattning : Accurate forecasting of stock price movements is crucial for optimizing trade execution and mitigating risk in automated trading environments, especially when leveraging Limit Order Book (LOB) data. However, developing predictive models from LOB data presents substantial challenges due to its inherent complexities and high-frequency nature. LÄS MER
4. Fano Resonances in Time-Dependent Wells
L3-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/MaterialteoriSammanfattning : Floquet’s theorem, a temporal analogue of Bloch’s theorem, is used for studying a time-dependent potential. With applications in cold atoms on optical lattices, quantum dots and more, there is a growing interest in Floquet engineering exotic materials and phases. LÄS MER
5. Affective language processing. Modulations of event-related potentials amplitude by induced mood in a valence judgment task
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Allmän språkvetenskap; Lunds universitet/Masterprogram: Språk och språkvetenskapSammanfattning : Emotional vocabulary enjoys a processing advantage, with the emotional salience of a word detected at 200 ms post-presentation or earlier, signalling selective attention to its affective properties. An individual’s affective state also impacts attention and, by extension, affects processing. LÄS MER
