Entendemos por periferia urbana el espacio geográfico que rodea a una gran metrópolis, históricamente concebida como un lugar de marginalidad y miseria y cuyos habitantes suelen ser estigmatizados y juzgados en relatos mediáticos construidos por personas ajenas a ese mundo.
