2. Spatial analysis of arsenic and fluoride mobilization in groundwater around Mount Meru, northern Tanzania
Master-uppsats, KTH/Hållbar utveckling, miljövetenskap och teknikSammanfattning : In Tanzania, approximately 76% of the drinking water supplies is dependent on groundwater sources. However, the groundwater in north Tanzania is susceptible to contamination by arsenic and fluoride. This study examines the spatial analysis of arsenic and fluoride mobilization in groundwater around Mount Meru, located in northern Tanzania. LÄS MER
3. Long-term Effect of Metallic Iron Sorbents on Arsenic Mobility in an Anoxic Aquifer : An assessment based on long-term column experiments
Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Soil and EnvironmentSammanfattning : Zero valent iron (ZVI) sorbents have successfully remediated soils burdened with different groups of contaminants. When working to alleviate arsenic (As) contamination, the location-specific subsurface chemistry greatly affects the efficiency of the sorbents as it controls the speciation of As and the transformation of the ZVI, as well as the interaction between these (remediating mechanisms). 4. Potentiella miljörisker med geoenergisystems temperaturpåverkan i mark och grundvatten
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Miljövetenskaplig utbildningSammanfattning : The aim of this literature study was to answer whether the thermal impact of geothermal energy systems pose a potential environmental risk to groundwater quality and microorganisms in the sub surface and to above ground vegetation. This study shows that the thermal impact of high temperature systems operating with temperatures ≥25⁰C in groundwater could lead to adverse effects on groundwater chemistry and biodiversity, such as mobilization of arsenic and DOC. 5. Detection of metals and trace elements in rice in Matlab, Bangladesh: A descriptive study
Master-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Internationell mödra- och barnhälsovård (IMCH)Sammanfattning : Rice is the staple food for almost half of the global population, including Bangladesh. This may be problematic, as rice may be contaminated with toxic metals, like arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb) due to industrialization, overuse of cultivating land, fertilizers and pesticides.
