  1. 16. Exploring the Impact of Pseudo and Quasi Random Number Generators on Monte Carlo Integration of the Multivariate Normal Distribution

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Statistiska institutionen

    Författare :Marcus Stolz; Jonathan Christopher; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Monte Carlo integration; Quasi monte carlo integration; Random number generation; Mathematics and Statistics;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis examines the effects of pseudo and quasi-random number generators on the accuracy and efficiency of Monte Carlo Integration in the case of the multivariate normal distribution. The study compares the performance of the Mersenne Twister (a pseudo-random number generator) with Sobol and Halton sequences (quasi-random number generators). LÄS MER

  2. 17. Den kvinnliga kroppen som militär strategi : En kvalitativ studie om sexuellt våld i väpnad konflikt och dess efterverkningar

    Kandidat-uppsats, Linnéuniversitetet/Institutionen för statsvetenskap (ST)

    Författare :Felicia Andersson; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Sexuellt våld; Militär strategi; Demokratiska republiken Kongo; Bosnien och Hercegovina; Genus; Maktstruktur;

    Sammanfattning : Sexual violence has long been portrayed as an inevitable side effect of warring. The phenomenon constitutes a complex dynamic of shifting power structures and arbitrary gender expectations. LÄS MER

  3. 18. Accommodation och affektiv polarisering på elitnivå - En teoriprövande och teoriutvecklande studie av vänsterorienterade mainstreampartiers relation till invandringskritiska nischpartier

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Statsvetenskapliga institutionen

    Författare :Birger Robach; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Accommodation; Affective Polarization; Affektiv polarisering; Affektiv polarisering på elitnivå; Policy convergence; Partikonkurrens; Party behaviour; Socialdemokraterna; Sverigedemokraterna; Law and Political Science;

    Sammanfattning : Is it possible for a left-wing mainstream party to use the strategy Accommodation against an anti immigrant niche party, at the same time as its leaders experiences Affective Polarizing against the same party? A coexistence might seem incompatible, since Accommodation describes how a party decreases the policy differences to another party, while Affective Polarization on elite level captures the negative emotional attitude and distance to another party. Drawing on Meguids theory of Accommodation, and previous research on Affective Polarization on elite level, I examine the possibility of coexistence of the two phenomena in a qualitative and theory-developing case study of the Swedish Social Democratic party’s (Socialdemokraterna) relation to the Sweden Democrats (Sverigedemokraterna) 2010-2022. 4. 19. Diving Deep: Seabird foraging tactics and local prey field

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. Of Aquatic Resources

    Författare :Elin Andersson Sjöholm; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Common Guillemot; Uria aalge; Optimal Foraging theory; Hydroacoustic data; resource selection;

    Sammanfattning : Foragers in patchy environments need to decide what patches to use and how to allocate their time between them. Optimal foraging theory describes these choices through the relationship between energy expenditure and energy gain. LÄS MER

  5. 20. NATO and their gold card holders : An entanglement analysis of Sweden and Finland's decision to apply for membership in NATO

    Master-uppsats, Försvarshögskolan

    Författare :Emelie Moregård; [2024]
    Nyckelord :Strategic culture; Sweden; Finland; NATO; entanglement analysis; strategic behaviour; security policy; foreign policy;

    Sammanfattning : The aim of this paper is to gain a greater understanding of the meaning-making process behind Finland and Sweden’s decision to join NATO in 2022, and by so, deviate from their long-standing tradition of military non-alignment. Instead of solely pointing to the Russian invasion of Ukraine as the official reason for NATO membership this paper suggests that the concept of strategic culture can provide one with a greater understanding of their decision to join NATO.
