  1. 1. Studying Elliptic Flow in High Centrality Pb-Pb Collisions using Proton Collision Background Fitting

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik

    Författare :Philip Fredholm; [2023]
    Nyckelord :Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : In this report, the elliptic flow in high centrality Pb-Pb collisions is calculated using two particle correlations $v_2\{2\}$ but without any imposed separation in η with data taken from the ALICE experiment at CERN in 2015. Instead, measurements of the same correlations in proton-proton collisions is used as a background to account for non-flow effects and data is correlated between the time projection chamber and the forward multiplicity detectors in order to avoid intra-jet correlations. 2. 2. Extending the Standard Model by a Dark and Visible Scalar Singlet

    Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Teoretisk partikelfysik - Geonomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Aram Fatah; [2020]
    Nyckelord :The two real singlet model; higgs boson; dark matter; beyond the standard model; bsm; scalar; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis, we extend the Higgs sector of the Standard Model by two scalar singlets and impose a discrete Z2 symmetry on each of them, under which, both singlets are odd. One of the two scalar singlets will acquire a vacuum expectation value while the other one does not. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Studies of Possible QGP Estimators in proton-proton Collisions

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Anna Önnerstad; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : This thesis presents studies of three different Quark-Gluon Plasma estimators in proton-proton collisions using what is currently believed to be quark-gluon plasma observables; radial flow, elliptic flow and strangeness enhancement. The three tested estimators were Transverse Spherocity, an altered version of Transverse Spherocity where all p_T was put to one, and a newly developed estimator called Mid-Forward. LÄS MER

  4. 4. Omega Baryon Production as a Function of Multiplicity in Proton-Proton Collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Partikel- och kärnfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen

    Författare :Lisa Vergara Urrutia; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : In this thesis the production of the $\Omega^-$ and $\Omega^+$ baryons, in proton-proton collisions at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV, is analyzed as a function of charged-particle multiplicity. The events analyzed were recorded by the ALICE detector, at the LHC. LÄS MER

  5. 5. Nucleosynthesis in accretion disks around black holes

    Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Institutionen för astronomi och teoretisk fysik - Genomgår omorganisation; Lunds universitet/Astronomi - Genomgår omorganisation

    Författare :Neige Frankel; [2017]
    Nyckelord :accretion disk; Nucleosynthesis; black hole; high energy; white dwarf tidal disruption; Physics and Astronomy;

    Sammanfattning : Nucleosynthesis is the mechanism which produces new elements in nuclear reactions. Nuclear reaction rates are highly temperature dependant, and nuclear reactions take place in very hot environments. Current theories predict that the light elements such as hydrogen and helium were produced during the Big Bang. LÄS MER
