  1. 1. Wild boar and roe deer in conflict? : an analysis of interspecific interactions under different wild boar densities

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Ecology

    Författare :Nina Eileen Long; [2023]
    Nyckelord :feeding displacement; generalized additive models; interference competition; wild boar; roe deer;

    Sammanfattning : Roe deer and wild boar are both highly successful species of cervid found across much of Europe, and while similarities exist between them, to what extent do wild boar impact the daily activity pattern of roe deer at feeding sites? While a few studies explore interspecific interactions between ungulate species in Sweden, only a little research has been done on how wild boar and roe deer interact. This study aims to minimize the gap in knowledge surrounding these two species and the way they interact. LÄS MER

  2. 2. Infektiös keratokonjunktivit hos semidomesticerad ren (Rangifer tarandus tarandus)

    Uppsats för yrkesexamina på avancerad nivå, SLU/Dept. of Clinical Sciences

    Författare :Julia Bonevik; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Infektiös keratokonjunktivit; ren; CvHV2; klamydia; kornealödem; kornealulcer;

    Sammanfattning : Infektiös keratokonjunktivit, IKC, är en ögonsjukdom som drabbar flera arter, däribland ren. Sjukdomen rapporterades på ren för första gången för mer än 100 år sedan, men ännu är mycket okänt kring sjukdomsprevalens, sjukdomsframkallande agens och riskfaktorer för insjuknande. LÄS MER

  3. 3. Hjortdjurs (Cervidae) nyttjande av och beteende vid saltstensplatser i norska fjällen

    Kandidat-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Animal Environment and Health

    Författare :Jessica Andersson; [2022]
    Nyckelord :Avmagringssjuka; hjortdjur; Norge; saltstensplatser; kronhjort; rådjur; dovhjort; miljösmitta; viltövervakning; viltkamera; bildsortering;

    Sammanfattning : Saltlicks are a common management practice for both wildlife and farm animals. In the Norwegian mountain areas these are typically intended for sheep on summer pasture but are used frequently by wildlife such as deer and reindeer. In 2016 the first European case of chronic wasting disease (CWD) was found in reindeer in Nordfjella, Norway. LÄS MER

  4. 4. How do stand composition and cervid densities influence the forest floor vegetation in a multi-cervid species context?

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies

    Författare :Clémentine Leemans; [2021]
    Nyckelord :alces; cerus elaphus; dama; capreolus; cervid; vaccinium; myrtillus; pinus sylvestris; picea abies; browsing; forest floor cover;

    Sammanfattning : The cover of forest floor vascular plants has been decreasing in Sweden over recent decades. Cervid rely heavily on this vegetation for food. With this study, I showed that habitat type highly influences the quality and quantity of the forest floor vegetation. LÄS MER

  5. 5. The effect of forestry and cervid densities on annual growth of ericaceous shrub species

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Southern Swedish Forest Research Centre

    Författare :Alina Sayn; [2021]
    Nyckelord :production forest; conifer; silviculture; plant-animal interaction; forest management; ungulate;

    Sammanfattning : Ericaceous shrubs, such as bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus), cowberry (V. vitis-idaea), and heather (Calluna vulgaris), dominate the understory in Swedish forests. Their important role of providing forage for wild deer is well established. LÄS MER
