    Sammanfattning : Bakgrund: Tidigare studier visar att postoperativ smärta förblir underbehandlad, trots att 80% av alla patienter upplever en måttlig till svår smärta efter operation. Studier visar även att sjuksköterskors kunskap gällande smärta är otillräcklig och att sjuksköterskornas egna värderingar kommer in i smärtbedömningen, vilket påverkar den smärtlindring som patienterna erhåller.
