    Sammanfattning : Amyloid proteins are a group of proteins with the ability to form large fibrillar aggregates, identifiable by their cross-β core structure. These aggregates are linked to several different neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease and due to the growing rate of people diagnosed, there is a need to combat these diseases.     Sammanfattning : Cell stress, caused by misfolded or aggregated proteins or exposure to certain environmental stressors, activates stress detectors and selected analysis processes within the cell, resulting intranscriptional regulation and synthesis of factors that influence appropriate folding or removal of misaligned proteins to recover proteostasis. Yeasts are given a sophisticated and interconnected system to restore from the disruption of proteostasis, which involves molecular chaperones and protein degradation pathways as significant participants.     Sammanfattning : In order to maintain proteins’ functionality their native folding state must be preserved. Chaperones fold other proteins and DNAJ-chaperones may collaborate with Hsc70 chaperones to prevent aggregation of aggregation-prone peptides such as polyQ and Aβ42, which form fibrils in currently incurable diseases as Huntington’s and Alzheimer’s, respectively.     Sammanfattning : The use of molecular chaperones can increase the yield of correctly folded proteins. This is especially needed in the expression of proteins non-native to the host organism.
