  1. 1. Taxonomy of the Rufous-naped lark (Mirafra africana) complex based on song analysis

    Kandidat-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Institutionen för biologisk grundutbildning; Uppsala universitet/Zooekologi

    Författare :Marianne Kristine Nymark; [2021]
    Nyckelord :rufous-naped; lark; mirafra; africana; systematics; taxonomy; ecology; zoology; song analysis; subspecies; integrative taxonomy; clinal variation; LDA; post hoc Tukey HSD test; Raven Pro;

    Sammanfattning : The Rufous-naped lark Mirafra africana complex consists of 22 subspecies spread across the African continent. Several of the subspecies have recently been suggested to potentially be treated as separate species. In this study a comparative analysis was done on the song from seven of the subspecies: M. a. 2. 2. The intraspecific drought tolerance of Betula pendula Roth. : ecotypic aptitude as tree selection criteria for the urban landscape

    Master-uppsats, SLU/Dept. of Plant Breeding (from 130101)

    Författare :Simon Hannus; [2021]
    Nyckelord :Betula pendula; clinal variation; drought tolerance; ecosystem services; ecotypes; potential evapotranspiration; turgor loss point; urban forestry; urban resilience; urban tree selection;

    Sammanfattning : The ecosystem services provided by urban trees are substantial contributors to the quality of urban living, and their environmentally regulating capabilities are increasingly regarded as integral in order to efficiently secure urban resilience, by ameliorating the human and material impacts of extreme weather events. However, current trends of urban development presents challenges of how to preserve urban greenery ecosystem functioning, particularly in light of the ongoing climate change; which also has brought forth the importance of taxonomically diverse urban forests, to mitigate risks of catastrophic tree loss associated with these conditions. 3. 3. Genetic diversity and hardiness in Scots pine from Scandinavia to Russia

    Master-uppsats, Umeå universitet/Institutionen för ekologi, miljö och geovetenskap

    Författare :Jenny Olsson; [2019]
    Nyckelord :Pinus sylvestris; recolonization history; genetic diversity; cold hardiness; clinal variation;

    Sammanfattning : The postglacial recolonization of northern Europe supposedly originated from Western Europe and the Russian Plain, however, recent molecular and macrofossil-based investigations suggest that the history may be more complex than previously thought. This study aims to investigate the genetic diversity and population structure of Scots pine from Scandinavia to Russia to re-evaluate its recolonization history, and to examine whether the pattern of spatial genetic diversity has any adaptive significance.
