1. The visibility of stellar transients in the Galactic Centre
Kandidat-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionen; Lunds universitet/AstrofysikSammanfattning : A semi-analytical simulation was developed to evaluate the K-band magnitudes of Red Giants [0.96 - 1.02 M⊙] orbiting the supermassive black hole in the galactic centre. The model assumed star formation between 10-12 Gyrs ago and by following the IMF and applying a random age condition, a stellar population was created. LÄS MER
2. N-body simulations of exoplanets and their moons
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : The planet-planet interactions in a many-planet system cannot be analytically calculated. Instead, they have to be investigated by using an N-body simulation. I discuss three questions about the N-body interactions in planetary systems: The first two are on the system 55 Cnc, a system with five known planets around a K-type star. LÄS MER
3. Towards a setup for narrowband terahertz generation through difference-frequency mixing of chirped ultrashort pulses
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Atomfysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : Terahertz radiation is a useful tool for inducing lower-energy excitations in matter, where it can be used to cause structural changes through direct interaction with the crystal lattice. Sub-picosecond optical pulses can be used to generate intense broadband terahertz pulses through optical rectification in nonlinear crystals, reaching peak electric fields of several MV/m and conversion efficiencies as high as a few percent. 4. The chemical evolution of the Milky Way: pushing APOGEE to higher precision and accuracy
Master-uppsats, Lunds universitet/Astrofysik; Lunds universitet/Fysiska institutionenSammanfattning : In the recent decade, a rapid increase in all-sky spectroscopic surveys has occurred, and with it, the wealth of observational data and information on our Galaxy. Consequently, numerous detections of new structures, such as new open clusters, accreted and in-situ components, are discovered. LÄS MER
5. Pulse Shape Analysis of Si Detector Signals from Fission Fragments using the LOHENGRIN Spectrometer
L3-uppsats, Uppsala universitet/Tillämpad kärnfysikSammanfattning : Nuclear physics experiments typically involve the collection and analysis of detector signals produced by the interaction of subatomic particles with matter to deduce various quantities. When heavy ions are involved, Si Detector signals are distorted by the formation of a plasma-like cloud from the interaction between the heavy ions and the detector material. LÄS MER
